Gonzalo Lira asks about the future of nato
Their next project, if they choose not to simply call it a day and go home, would almost have to involve attempting to project power across oceans.
Now, granted the US has shown some ability to do that, the biggest example is still Okinawa... What nato would be looking at would be more like the full-on invasion of the Japanese home islands that the US was still trying to work up the cajones for when the two atom bombs ended WW2.
NATO should continue without the US and without Turkey.
I would say Canada as well, but no one cares.
you Russian shills are obsessed over NATO, LOL
but, there would be no NATO if Russia wasn’t such a menace to every country in Europe ... can’t you see that?
Russia and Turkey (second largest army in NATO) have an accord to set up Turkey as a distribution center for gas via pipelines crossing the Black Sea.
Both of those countries will have to guard these pipelines from attack by NATO.
(NATO is code word for the US)
Your country can’t even shoot a damn blimp out of the sky without US help.
You really need to mind your own business and get out of telling US citizens what to do.
No one sees it because Russia wasn’t bothering anyone, especially Canaduh. You are sick.
And that’s why Turkey will never leave NATO.
It’s a perfect spot for them.
Ouch, thats gonna leave a mark.
NO. I have no ability to see **** that isn’t there...
NATO is not, and never has been, about the Russian menace.
It’s all about a big nation in the middle of Europe which cannot, and must not, be allowed to act in its own interest.
Now, in your next breath tell US how Russia is so weak that they can't take a back water country like The Ukraine. Only a devoted leftist can hold those two opposing thoughts in their head at the same time, believing both to be relevant. can't you see that?
> there would be no NATO if Russia wasn’t such a menace to every country in Europe <
Putting aside the Russian “menace” question for a moment, there will always be a NATO for these two reasons.
1. Once a bureaucracy is established, it lives on forever.
2. The United States just loves to be a big player everywhere, all the time.
Notice that neither reason has anything to do with necessity.
there’s no contradiction
fortunately for us all, Russia is now too incompetent and leaderless to conquer all of Ukraine, but they still have malicious intent, enough tools to cause lots of misery, and (as you Russian shills never cease to point out) lots of nukes in reserve
so yes, they remain an ongoing menace to all of Europe, but currently are not strong enough to defeat Ukraine
It’s called and implausible story. If Norway was part of the plot, there was no plot.
you guys can repeat all the Russian talking points you want
BUT, if Russia wasn’t *repeatedly attacking & invading its neighboring countries*, there would be no need for NATO
that’s the basic issue ... Russia’s ongoing warmongering
NO OTHER country in Europe is attacking its neighbors ... ONLY RUSSIA
that’s the truth you can’t accept
Why does a foreigner like you come to an American forum and push Biden’s illegal war policy?
“Why does a foreigner like you come to an American forum and push Biden’s illegal war policy?”
Or is he a foreigner, or perhaps an operative?
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a war crime. And Putin is a war criminal. I have mentioned that many times on this site. But notice that in my post #13, I said put all that aside.
There certainly was a need for NATO at one time, many decades ago. But even if that need goes away, NATO will continue to exist for the two reasons I gave. That was my point.
And as a side note, yes Putin is a war criminal. But many stupid moves made by NATO made Putin’s decisions easier for him to make. So it’s just not as simple as Russia bad, NATO good.
Thanks for your opinion, Mr. Canaduh.
