Russia expressed mounting fury at the prospect of modern Western tanks being sent to Ukraine.

The Kremlin's spokesman described it as an "absurd" plan that scuppers the prospect of talks to end the war.

The Russian Embassy in Berlin called the German government's decision "extremely dangerous" and said it "takes the conflict to a new level of confrontation."

The US used Ukraine to poke the bear which yielded the war.

Leaders in Moscow, however, tell a different story. For them, Russia is the aggrieved party. They claim the United States has failed to uphold a promise that NATO would not expand into Eastern Europe, a deal made during the 1990 negotiations between the West and the Soviet Union over German unification. In this view, Russia is being forced to forestall NATO’s eastward march as a matter of self-defense.

All these issues go back to Catherine the Great, so history matters to the current Russia leader.

The US and NATO will keep escalating this until it goes nuclear. I’m betting during the second half of 2023.

LOL!!!

From your Homepage

What a windbag!!!

Who are Cavalry Scouts: I am the eyes and ears of the battlefield, my radio is my most valuable weapon, I can maneuver undetected for hours, days, weeks at a time.

I stalk the enemy when they think no one is watching, I am the forefront of death, brought up from the Green where no other man is welcome besides my own.

I am the tip of the spear, the first in, the last out, I know every inch of every weapon and piece of equipment that I am provided.

I can adapt and overcome any situation I am put in, because I am tough, smart, and fear nothing but fear itself, which I am.

If there is a world war America will definitely lose. We are so totally divided and distrusting of our “fellow Americans”. A unified war effort will be impossible. After we run out of our volunteer army who will fight? Wokesters? Ostracized conservatives? What will they be fighting for? Trannies and gays and sex changes for school children? Nah.

Exactly, the time to cut off your forces and shut down resupply to them is when they are doing well in battle.

That is war-winning rule number one, ‘starve battlefield success’, turn off the spigot in midstream, and leave’em hanging.

Who would we be fighting a world war with?

It wouldn’t be Russia.

If we want a war, we already have one on our own southern border. Why do we need to send troops, tanks, and $$$Billions$$$ 5,000 miles to confront a nuclear power on their own border?

"Democracy"? Don't make me laugh.

This simply is not our fight. We are ignoring the one which is.

Wrong again. Even Gorbachev said there was no such agreement.

“All these issues go back to Catherine the Great, so history matters to the current Russia leader.”

Well, I’m glad you mentioned her, because that puts Putin into context and explains him quite well.

From Brittanica: “Catherine began to search for glory in foreign politics. She conceived a bold scheme: (1) to annex from Poland those areas that had a Belorussian or Ukrainian population; and (2) to take possession of the Black Sea shore, drive the Turks from Europe, and found in their place a series of new states in Moldavia and Walachia, the Balkans, and Greece. She wished to take Constantinople and to place there her second grandson, Constantine, as the emperor of a new Greek empire. His very name was chosen to symbolize this project.”

Sound familiar?

What Magic will stop the arms delivery? Nuke Magic. Will we blow up the world if Putin turns Kiev into a radioactive hole in the ground? Is it worth every Major European Capital? New York? Atlanta? Washington DC? The west blows itself up and gives the world to China? NO!

Well, Russia does have allies. I expect them to join the war in some capacity at some point. Countries like Iran, China, and North Korea. It would just take a few Fatwas and we’d be facing potentially millions of very angry Muslims, some of them remember what we did to them and some of them are battle hardened. Who knows what other countries will do as the war widens.

No deal was made about NATO expansion. That is false!

There was a promise by Sec Baker that Germany would not expand to the east

It is absurd to think that the size of NATO was negotiated with putin

it is not his business, nor his call to make

Most of that doesn’t sound like much of a threat.

As far as China goes, seeing what Ukraine is doing with old and minor NATO weapons and tactics against the mighty power of the Russian army must be a little sobering.

China also is seeing Russia largely erased as being helpful in serving China to tie up the West, if China starts a war.

We have nuke magic also as far any US targets go, and if he hits Ukraine, at a minimum his conventional forces in Europe will be annihilated.

I spent 40 years listening to the Soviet Union's nuclear bluster. It doesn't frighten me.
