At what point does more transmissible have little effect. For example, if it took 2 seconds of exposure to omicron to transmit, but now takes 1 second of XBB, does this really matter?
If XBB has mild effects, does the transmissibility really matter?
Asimov wrote a story called The Endochronic Properties of Resublimated Thiotimoline. It was about a chemical that dissolved before it makes contact with water. Similar to a virus that harms people before it infects them.
