Imagine this open flame stove in your kids room with them in charge of lighting and operating it, and the gas hose is just pushed onto the heater fitting, and onto the gas valve at the wall, (not screwed, just friction).

I didn’t know this for a long time, but ‘sticking your head in the oven’ won’t kill you anymore—thanks to natural gas. Back in the day, ‘gas’ in town was coal gas converted at a ‘gas works’ and the unburnt gas contained a lot of carbon monoxide—more than enough to kill you. Besides the risk of explosion, gas coming out of an unlit burner or stove (anyone remember having to light a stove/oven?) was deadly.

So our grandparents were able to cope and survive with gas that can poison you, but we can’t deal with a gas that might cause some breathing problems?

I just got an induction electric stove to replace a 40-year-old electric coil stove.

Wow! What a terrific stove top! It heats stuff in a flash—gets a pot of water boiling in less than a minute. I had to get new cookware because it doesn’t work with my old aluminum stuff.

No need to get a gas stove. Induction is a wonderful alternative!

Yes, it’s incredible how fast it can boil water or heat up a can of soup.

“What ELSE is going on”

I’ve always wondered if we’ve made things so “clean” that immune systems are weak and make kids more susceptible to asthma and allergies.

Sort of like when we cleaned up the water, kids started getting polio.

“RMI operates programs in many countries:

Carbon-Free Electricity
Carbon-Free Buildings
Carbon-Free Mobility”

They don’t have any bias against natural gas, surely not?

Surprise surprise. They are a group lobbying for “green” energy.

“RMI is catalyzing rapid, market-based change in the world’s most critical geographies to be aligned to a 1.5°C future.”

If one in eight from natural gas, then seven in eight from electric cooking appliances?

Perhaps cooking should be done outdoors?

Just saying......

According to my mother, my childhood was plagued with a suspected leaky gas line and I constantly had ill issues. I do not have or had asthma.

I’ve always assumed it’s all the fru-fru household items folks use in their homes: scented candles, laundry soap and dryer sheets, glade plug-in’s and air-spray’s. I have no science, just experience to go on.

How many on oxygen are there BECAUSE of the health issues emanating from gas stoves.

Probably none to very few....

Most COPD'ers.....are in their illness because of smoking.

I am on O2 at night and the cause was linked to sleep apnea. Once the docs relized this they decided that this could cause a host of problems. Sleep apnea much be monitored and not allowed to conflict with thes natural gas stove studies. If not done, then the study is worthless.

I had an induction.

Hated it.

You can not can on an induction, it is too delicate.

Appliances in my home need to be sturdy.

If they need coddling they are out the door.
