We have a two year old granddaughter that is sharp as a tack. Smart, manipulative, mechanically inclined. She’s a little slow with her “grown” language development, but she’s so good at communicating with hand signals, her eyes, tugs on your hand...you have no doubt about what she wants. And she very often gets exactly what she wants. I truly believe she’s created her own language when she plays with her dolls or just toys in general...if you listen, there’s almost a song-song method to what she says, with some actual English thrown in. If you’re around her any time at all, you almost lapse into her made-up language and have fun just listening to her. She’s high energy and non-stop between nap times. Honestly, it’s hard to keep up with her...and you HAVE TO keep your eyes on her!

Our daughter (a maternity nurse) says she’s worried about the kid’s language development. I keep telling her...”Don’t worry. The kid will have full language skills soon enough. And you won’t be able to shut her up.” I see the intelligence in this kid. She’s head and heels above other kids in drive, skills and personality.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of child teachers will target for ADHD drugs...just to slow her down. I begged my daughter “Please do not allow that to happen. Please don’t stunt her growth with those drugs.”.

The DEA is a criminal domestic terrorist organization every bit as bad as the FBI. DEA went after prescription opioid prescribers instead of drug cartels and opioid OD deaths skyrocketed and patients with chronic pain have suffered enormously.

The DEAth agency will go after prescribers and the drug cartels will continue to prosper and OD deaths will climb.

When will conservative realize that the FED agencies promote tyranny and not conservative values?

Now that the prescription opioid producers have been exhausted for billions in damages by litigation, it’s time for the Feds to turn on other drug makers, pharmacies and prescribers.

There are better options for ADHD than drugs, but people need to look at their own actions, how they raise their children before blaming the companies that make these drugs. What happened to personal responsibility? Scape-goating is all the rage and it will not fix the problem.

Why do you think there are so many people coming out as “Trans”.
Instead of helping people work out their issues, let’s just drug em up and hope it works out.

Many children are like that at around that age. When my youngest grandchild was two, the four year old was the only one who understood what she was saying. It was amusing listening to their conversations. Then suddenly, the youngest started talking non-stop using long words correctly in complex sentences. I forget sometimes that she is only three.

Seems to me , all of a sudden every kid on earth has ADHD.

And/or gay, trans-gender, queer, lesbian, bi-sexual, etc,etc,etc.

It's no wonder kids are so effed up these days.

yep, ADHD is simply boys being boys.

Boys require a different kind of education and discipline, liberals changed schools on purpose to make them more tuned to girls needs and in the process made it harder for boys to learn and then labeled the boys ADHD for not acting like the girls.

Years ago, a kid at our church was the epitome of ADHD. In actuality, he was a genius. His parents wisely kept him out of the system and refused to drug him into oblivion.

He was homeschooled and graduated high school at age 12. At that point, he was being scouted by some universities but of course he was far too immature for college.

He went to some sort of high level brainiac high school and earned two more diploma’s.

The ADD was still strong and this kid was pretty much an idiot who couldn’t tie his own shoes, but could give you the chemical formula for the glue that holds the plastic ferrules to the ends of the shoelaces.

(Unrelated issue-Wow! In FR parlance, I actually owe myself a new keyboard. As I was typing that I took a sip of coffee and immediately coughed. My desk faces a wall and it now has coffee spew all over it)

Anyway, this kid is now about 22. We saw him a week or so ago. He’s finishing his third Masters degree and heading for Med School.

While he was a real challenge his parents made the correct call

I think that the medical marijuana issue will be the next big crisis.

Anyone can call up and use any excuse to get a medical marijuana card.

And the strength of the THC is so much more than it was back in the 70’s and 80’s’.

The government shut down the tobacco industry and opened up their own marijuana industry.

Gotta have that tax money, don’t cha know!

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Makes sense. If the schools did not want the boys drugged into submission, and they were allowed to run and play outside like kids were meant to, then there wouldn’t be the behavior issues and the call for drugs to control them instead of wise parenting.

Thomas Sowell wrote a book about late talkers—for many it does go away about age 3.

However, the reason people worry about speech development is that it *can* (not does) indicate a problem with hearing, and those problems usually do not go away. Hearing problems in very young children can cause definite problems in language development, apart from the problems hearing.

I thought the opiod crisis was bad because people were dying... are people turning to street drugs in massive numbers and dying from ADHD meds?

“I thought the opiod crisis was bad because people were dying... are people turning to street drugs in massive numbers and dying from ADHD meds?”

____

That’s a possibility. I read that when the government suddenly cracked down on opioid pain medication for legitimate injuries and pain, many doctors became scared and greatly reduced or stopped some of their patients prescriptions. Sometimes without even gradually tapering off the dosages. To relieve their pain, many went hunting for street drugs for relief. Some of those drugs, unknown to them, were laced with fentanyl and other drugs. Some became addicted to drugs they didn’t even realize they were taking and some overdosed. Then government agencies started equating needed pain prescriptions with street “opioids” as well.

I remember reading about such back about five or six years ago and the problems it was causing cancer patients and those with severe injuries who needed the pain meds to manage their daily life, but were suddenly cut off totally and told to take Tylenol.

I’ll look up Thomas Sowell’s book and pass it on to my kid.

Thank you.

There was a drug dealer in every school in the old days.

Then the schools became the drug dealers.

Slightly OT but relevant, a VERY WISE FReeper said the endocrine system's clash with environmental factors may play a part in the trans "movement." Far too many household products contain toxins that are known endocrine disruptors. Way too many foods are Frankenfoods, full of garbage and fillers God did not design us to ingest. Toys, water bottles, toothpaste, and more are slowly poisoning our children. That, combined with a lack of exercise and sunshine, is doing long-term damage to our kids.

I suspect that's also at play with ADHD.

Sadly, the medical industry, on trans, has moved towards affirmation instead of cause and cure. Indeed, that same industry prescribes meds elsewhere. Why not meds for trans-confused children instead of irreversible surgery?

Or, maybe, both sets of kids need a natural, organic, gluten-free diet?

50 years ago, the counterculture promoted "back to nature." Well, WE are now the counterculture. It is up to parents to lead the charge.
