DEA warns that ADHD overprescription could be as bad as OPIOID CRISIS
Daily Mail ^ | 1/2/23 | James Gordon

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has expressed concern that 'aggressive marketing practices' by telehealth companies may be contributing to excessive prescriptions for medications used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), according to a letter from the agency.

I believe conservatives were warning about the over-prescribing of ADHD drugs decades ago. Trust the science, indeed!

Gee, I wonder if SSRIs are also massively over prescribed. Possibly. We are not going to drug our way out of a sick culture.

They really started the over-prescribing due to young boys having the energy that all young boys have. Schools started cutting out the mid-morning and mid-afternoon recess and expected six and seven year-olds, to sit quietly in their seats all day. Teachers found it easier to just ask that the children be drugged. Some without the parents’ knowledge.

I was a substitute teacher in the 90s and the prescription drug cabinet for students’ medication went from a small box to an entire closet. Students were going to the office non-stop to get their daily pill just before lunch time.

The problem is these drugs are a flat miracle for those who legitimately need it. Seen it with my own eyes.

When the government gets involved, all that will happen is those who abuse the drugs will still get them and those who legitimately are helped will be so inconvenienced that they do without.

The answer is never more government.

The DEA? The Biden administration? Warning about overprescription of drugs that the PTB want all of our kids to be on?

Can they do that? What's going on here. Did the Brandon administration approve this message?

The answer is never more government.

That sums up the problem succinctly. A prescription comes along that helps some people with certain problems and suddenly it is the new "wonder drug" with every physician prescribing it for every patient who comes into their office. Then, the government gets involved and starts over-regulating it, or promoting it, and suddenly the people who need it can't get it, and those who do not need it are prescribed too much.

Then government starts regulating the price and the number of pills a person can be prescribed a month, patients have to go to their doctor each and every month to get a new prescription and co-pays have to be paid each time. People see it advertised on TV with a reminder to "ask your doctor if "Killum" is right for you!" It's a big money maker for all involved, except the patients. And for some, it does more harm than good.

Call me cynical, but when I see an article such as this, my first thought is "What are they trying to cover-up?"

I know several seniors taking adderall. They are totally addicted to this stuff. Their primary care docs send them to special clinics where they have to go to get approved to keep taking it. They never miss one of those appointments.

All say that they need it. I am sure they do.

Many take those and also anti depressants at the same time.

No wonder people are so kooky anymore. Drugged to the hilt.

--- 'aggressive marketing practices'

This phrase more than adequately characterizes the Fauci-led years, as well as such blatant "marketing" as Mrs. Biden's New Years' "get your Covid shot" message. Marketing from start to finish. And as many of us here will agree -- "Brought to you by Pfizer." And the other med peddlers.

It is interesting that this "warning" comes from the DEA, and not from the FDA or CDC. Y'all.

I sense a fracture in the "narrative." Ditto with those news reports now trying to assign all sorts of ADE-like events to follow-on from a virus and not still-experimental drug therapies.

Who's prescribing "excessive prescriptions?"

Look to the pharmaceutical industry and its captured regulatory agencies....

I think both are over prescribed.

Seems we think there’s nothing that a little pill can’t cure, except they don’t. Sometimes they exasperate the problem.

We need to be more prudent.

They wanted to prescribe meds for a daughter of a friend. The parents told them to shove it. Their daughter grew up to be a Physician in a well known Boston Hospital

The drugs are totally oversubscribed, I think other factors also play a major part of the problem.

I think the growth of fast food diets and processed food with all types of additives are a real problem.

The growth of video games have you boys especially in front of TVs playing video games instead of outside riding a bicycle or playing football, basketball, etc...basically making kids nothing but coach potatoes.
