A few things here.

DNA was found, and investigators used commercial dna registry sites to figure out what family he was from.

the car was tracked using the Hyundai Blue LinkĀ® Highlights.

Blue LinkĀ® telematics platform will offer innovative connectivity, convenience and safety services for Hyundai vehicles

Numerous connectivity and convenience features will be available via feature packaging targeted at distinct telematics user groups

I am guessing the gov is in one of those user groups.

I seem to remember an onstar lawsuit saying if that while people could listen to any conversation inside an equipped car, but that if someone was listening, the emergency service button was disabled and this could put the occupants lives at risk in the event of a crash

I have close friends with two kids at Pullman.

That really must have shocked students there.

It’s good the murderer was caught, but how is potentially a different story.
Genetic tracking and governmental tracking of individuals will be abused.
The Canadians froze the bank accounts for protesting a useless, potentially dangerous vaccine.
How long before our scum use it against us?
The world is shrinking, and not for the better.

Yep. "23 And Me" is the greatest DNA archive ever.

Who knew that you could get Americans to not only volunteer their DNA samples but pay for the service as well?

"so it is unclear how officials got hold of his DNA."

His DNA was left at the crime scene, then from there the DNA/Geneology websites narrow those DNA markers to a family tree. THEN from there you find out WHO in that family has a white Hyundai Elantra registered to them.

BOOM, done.

Friday's arrest is the first major break in the case - with Kohberger asking if 'anyone else was arrested' when he was taken into custody. An extradition hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

That's an interesting question to ask when you're being arrested. Either he's trying to imply innocence, or he had accomplices.

My understanding is that the Libertarian Party is generally left-leaning. I believe there is some commotion now as a right-leaning person is trying to gain control, but in general they are pro-abortion, gay rights, etc.

Unfortunately, when most people think of "libertarian" they focus on low taxes, less government, etc. and will assume this guy is a rightwinger.

He might in fact lean right, but he most likely just leans cuckoo.

That’s a nose that an epic pugilist would be proud to claim. Around here, we’d call that “As crooked as Ridge Avenue.”

It was nice of the FBI to spare 4 agents for the Idaho murders, from the 300 agents they are using around the clock to get Trump.

Kohberger is a registered Libertarian, although... the media probably believes that he is an extreme MAGA white supremacist Republican.

“DNA was found, and investigators used commercial dna registry sites to figure out what family he was from.”

Way too complicated. In mid-December, LEO received a tip about a white Hyundai Electra spotted near the scene of the murders. LEO checked the local DMV records for a match, but Moscow being a college town, there could be cars registered in other states. LEO then contacts campus police for U of Idaho, as well as nearby WSU, and learns that a WSU campus parking permit was issued to a “Bryan Kohberger” who is a PhD student at the university, and that he has an on-campus office and apartment. LEO searches his office for a coffee cup, soda, can, pen, pencil, etc., and finds a DNA sample that matches the DNA from the murder scene. The rest is headlines.

Am I wrong for not believing a single thing the stasi FBI does? Do I believe they would fabricate any and all evidence to solve this horrible mass murder? Yes, yes I do.
