KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping vowed Friday to deepen their bilateral cooperation against the backdrop of Moscow’s 10-month war in Ukraine, which weathered another night of drone and rocket attacks following a large-scale missile bombardment.
Putin and Xi made no direct mention of Ukraine in their opening remarks by videoconference, which were broadcast publicly, before going into private talks. But they hailed strengthening ties between Moscow and Beijing amid what they called “geopolitical tensions” and a “difficult international situation,” with Putin expressing his wish to extend military collaboration.
“In the face of increasing geopolitical tensions, the significance of the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership is growing as a stabilizing factor,” said Putin, whose invasion of a neighboring country has been stymied by fierce Ukrainian resistance and Western military aid.

Comrade Xi got a good look at the Russian army in action and was duly unimpressed. He has to be thinking that Russia’s rich Pacific Asian territories and the treasure house of Siberia are much more tempting targets than Taiwan. Without nuclear weapons, Russia would be much smaller.
China need Russia in the upcoming war with Japan/US . Xi might be able to intimidate Biden and Harris but not Japan. He will need the Russian Pacific Fleet and the oil pipeline from Russia to keep going—if war happens. Russia will be a good ally in that encounter—Siberia can wait for now. India is a rival, so is South Korea Japan and Vietnam.

Without nuclear weapons Russia wouldn’t be that much bigger than Saudi Arabia in size. Economically, it would be second-world, at best.
Economically, even today Russia is ranked #12 globally, behind such powers as Italy, Brazil, Canada, and South Korea, none of which have nukes.

if Russia is still bombarding Ukraine,
then obviously Russia is not interested in peace

A person or political party gaining or maintaining political power by rigging elections is a dictator. Biden and the Democrats are no better than Xi and the Chinese communist party, or Putin and whatever party he’s from.
Xi and Putin are actually *better* in some ways. They don’t push child grooming, homosexuality, race baiting, or transgender ideology!
