If it weren’t for foreign immigration, both legal and illegal, Virginia would be losing population.
One state after another is getting Californicated. When I see Texans, Arizonans, etc. saying not to Californicate their states, I think, “What’s to stop them?” The whole country is going to be California.
We’ve lost containment. It’s spreading.

Maybe for some, but in my family’s case we gave up proximity to family, 50 year deep roots and my job precisely because of the insane politics in CA - and couldn’t be happier with our new life in a very red county in TX.

I have met many fellow former Californians who moved to (rural) Texas as we did, and almost every single person was a conservative who could no longer tolerate the progressive madness there. I suspect, based only on my anecdotal experience, that many CA refugees - those that are actually US citizens - are here for the same reason.
Unfortunately the booming tech sector here is attracting hundreds of thousands of non-citizen, progressive H-1B Indians and Chinese, and woke millennials who can’t afford to live in blue states, to the metropolitan centers. They are malignant cells in a cancer that seems to be spreading with no chance of a cure. I won’t go anywhere near Austin, San Antonio, or DFW unless it’s absolutely necessary because I see those places becoming just like LA and the Bay Area, which I hate with red hot burning passion.
This was predicted by Ayn Rand. The productive class will depart from territory controlled by looters. I’m outta California soon myself
I have had 10 Californians tell me all about moving here. 8 were masked this summer. Now suddenly TN has rolling blackouts. Our vote on important state amendments was blue, 100 percent.
My husband doesn’t want to move to FL because When Desantis leaves, it will be back to its former can’t even count the votes.
The country we have allowed ourselves to become is shocking.
Heck, a Republican prez lead us with mail in ballots, masking, travel restrictions, bumpstock bans and everyone is really excited about a leader who would give kushner n Fauci the reins.
I have held on to optimism for far too long. It can’t be saved.
And Scotus ruled that census takers could not ask if the respondent was a citizen.
Illinois has rivers on both sides of it, and one really big lake. No shortage of water, fish, farmland, just for starters. Florida has a limited water table and hurricanes, no matter how good the governor and the politics are. Also lots and lots of really annoying old people. I worked behind the counter of a kosher deli for a couple of years. Every last one of them would ask the same exact question: “Is it fresh?” Of course. Fresh salami. They just cured it and dried it for fun. Stale rotisserie chicken, though, that I just took out of the oven five minutes ago. I’ll take my chances with the terrorists. Seniors get weird when too many of them congregate. Critical mass, you know.

Too bad that kooky, Left-wing politics is exactly what they bring with them.
I’ll be officially senior shortly. Already got my first social security check (figured I’d cash in before they ran out of money). So I can say nasty things about my own kind. Just like blacks can use the N word, and Jews can make jokes about ourselves.
As far as I know, your state is still majority red. What were your amendments about?
