The winter storm sweeping the U.S. is making history, as Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is recording its first blizzard in over four decades.

The winter storm sweeping the U.S. is expected to continue to bring what the National Weather Service (NWS) describes as “widespread disruptions to large portions of the nation heading into the holiday weekend.” And indeed, as of 10:45 a.m. Eastern, over 3,600 U.S. flights had been cancelled and 2,600 more were delayed on Friday alone.

It wasn’t a blizzard. For three hours, there were blizzard like conditions. It’s cold though. And yes, Cincinnati gets snow.

Weatherman hype. I’ve never seen such giddy weathermen on TV in all my life. This weather system was their Super Bowl. They have been carrying on like it’s never snowed or been cold in Cincinnati before.

Blizzard is snow with winds over 35 mph and visibility less than a quarter mile for 3 hours. Lucky Cincy it’s been that long since last one.

Wasn't it that movie “An Inconvenient Truth” the one that had NYC with 100 feet of ice due to global warming? Something about all the water in the Atlantic was warm and it affected the water circulation and the cold water from Canada came down and everything froze. (I never saw it.)

This is the first Cincinnati winter in 2 years that I got to use my snowblower. At -4 it took a more than few shots of starter fluid but it ran like a champ.
