I have been a police officer for almost 20 years. No need to give me crime stats. I am WELL aware who commits crime and who does not. I know what criminals look like and I know what victims look like.

IMHO, there is a LARGE difference between citing statistical facts and calling black people "apes" and "animals." You may disagree with me and agree with the other poster, but that's between you and the mirror.

You logic and reasoning is sound but recent trips to Memphis and D.C. have destroyed my faith in that reasoning.

You have done me an injustice. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT call or think of black people as "apes" or "animals." I grew up in the last days of the segregated South, but, as a devout Catholic attending Catholic schools K-12, in keeping with Catholic doctrine, I had black friends and classmates -- and knew well that the Klan hated Catholics for that.

My grandfather, a Polish immigrant small businessman, was respected in the local black community for his kindness and generosity, and my father, as a lawyer and judge, was on excellent terms with black colleagues. As an adult, a black friend even saved my life. He confided in me how he recovered from a medical crisis, and his example inspired me to deal with my own health crisis in a similar successful manner when doctors failed me.

I see no need to go on any further. I trust that I have made my point.
