Who the hell even buys CFL’s? They were a crap solution forced on the buying public in the first place... I can’t imagine these horrible things sell worth a damn now that LED’s are out there.
Exactly.
They will phase themselves out without any “help” from the government.
Low flush toilets are another crap solution forced on the public. I don’t use CFLs but I’d like my old fashioned toilets back.
And my incandescent bulbs.
I am sure someone made serious coin as those stupid curly-cue bulbs were sold to the public.
Exactly and they have mercury in them. You weren’t supposed to throw them away but take them to be recycled.
Amen. CFLs should never have existed. ILs should have remained until LED technology matured.
I tried using CFL’s to replace incandescent when they first became popular. They got nowhere near the rated life in most applications. The only places I found them useful were in fixtures that would be turned on for extended periods of time, such as dusk to dawn, exterior, lighting, or lamp on the timer that I had turn on every evening.
I threw all of mine in the trash just like they tell you not to do.
Well, the LEDs we have in our canned ceiling lights are much less reliable than CFLs or Incandescents. We’ve tried two different brands of LEDs and I’d say their life averages about 1000-1200 hours. Considering the replacment cost, the savings in electricity over other bulb types will never come close to covering the cost of the bulbs.
Now THERE is a problem that needed fixing!
You can’t even find them in stores anymore.
