The media’s deranged obsession with Ron DeSantis — even before he declares for 2024
NY Post ^ | 16 Dec 2022 | Karol Markowicz

It’s poised to be a long two years for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Fresh off a nearly 20-point re-election win, and not yet having even announced his intention to run for president in 2024, DeSantis has become media enemy No. 1.

Take the case of Rebekah Jones, a pretend whistleblower who alleged with zero evidence that Florida was hiding its true COVID death rate. This week, in a deal with prosecutors, she admitted illegally accessing a state computer. She’d been a media darling because of her attacks on DeSantis.

On her website, Jones helpfully compiled a list of credulous media outlets that ran her false claims without checking. CNN, The Washington Post, MSNBC, Yahoo News, The Miami Herald and so on all fell for her lies, some many times over.

Much is made of Republicans choosing poor-quality candidates but Jones was most recently the Democratic nominee for Congress from Florida’s 1st Congressional District. She lost, thankfully, but that was just weeks before her guilty plea.

They recognize that he is a danger to them and they will try to destroy him.

It was easy for them to transfer their Trump hatred on to DeSantis.

The media will do what they do best: create a false picture of DeSantis and do all in their power to convince the public that it is a true picture.

Whatever they said about Trump they will say about DeSantis. Racist/sexist/homophobe/transphobe/islamophobe/pronounophobe/ etc.

The most hated Republican is always the one closest to the White House.

It ain’t just the media ......a quick scan around FR proves that. 😏

I remember the relentless attacks on W. After years of watching CNN, my elderly father-in-law started commenting, “That darn Bush!”

Brainwashing.

“It ain’t just the media ......a quick scan around FR proves that. “

And they can’t post a single fact to support their hatred for this great conservative.

It’s not deranged. It’s an effective, well worn playbook. They have identified DeSantis as the front runner. The mission now is to cast DeSantis as some combination of crazy, evil, and stupid.

Sadly, it works.

LOL, the NYP, who has been negative and obsessed towards Trump since the mid-terms is now saying the media is going after Desantis. Talk about hypocrites.

Hey, with Mitch McComical sleeping with Chuckie Tumor and many Republicans in the House demanding the new speaker continue with Queen Nazi Pelosi’s rules it is not likely there will be a Republican President soon.

The Sundance crowd has become the best weapon the left has on dividing the conservatives including those on FR. Makes you wonder who is paying for the incessant posting and misinformation.

True the liberal playbook doesn’t change.

They’ll have DeSantis in a Waffen-SS uniform sometime by the summer or fall of this year.

This flirting with 2024 is not helping him IMHO. This is Trump's last chance. DeSantis has many years to run for president. If he doesn't blow by running against Trump.

The Establishment of the United States is the culprit you’re looking for. They’re excellent at creating division and rigging elections.

As of today December 16, 2022, one the following candidates will be the next POTUS.......Biden, DeSantis, or Trump.

However, its a ‘long way out’ so things can change moving forward into 2023-2024.

It's not deranged. It’s an effective, well worn playbook. They have identified DeSantis as the front runner. The mission now is to cast DeSantis as some combination of crazy, evil, and stupid. Sadly, it works.

But it doesn't work as well on every target. The left absolutely hated Reagan. They portrayed him as an evil, war mongering nutbag that would start World War III. The reason that didn't stick was Reagan himself. He came across as congenial, reasonable, and neither nasty nor warmonger. So even though they thought to portray him that way, it didn't stick with voters.

This article proves that point with respect to DeSantis. The media tried to tear him apart over COVID. There was this woman's claims against him, and then all the claims that he was essentially murdering all these people in Florida by not having mandatory lockdowns and mask requirements extending into the summer. But this woman's claims were a lie because DeSantis didn't cook the data. The death rates in Florida weren't what they claimed, and so that attack failed as well. Claims have a hard time sticking when there isn't a core of truth to twist.

That is the point where Trump and DeSantis diverge. Trump is an undisciplined communicator, and as a result he often says things inartfully - or just plain badly - that can easily be twisted into negatives that voters will believe about him.

DeSantis just doesn't do that. Try to think of a single true gaffe he has made - one truly inartful statement that anyone has been able to pin on him. Even when they think they've gotten him over something he says on transgenders for example, it turns out that he has read the public mood better than they have, and those things actually help his popularity rather than hurt it.

Of course they will go after DeSantis hard and unfairly, just as they would go after any conservative Republican. But as long as he remains disciplined in his communication and doesn't commit unforced errors, it won't stick with enough voters to matter.

Trump’s numbers make him unelectable. 2024 ID DeSantis’ best year to run.

They have already been attacking DeSantis for a long time. The difference is he doesn’t react, he stays focused and he gets it done. He doesn’t give them additional fire power.
