That also goes for dried products with insect infestations...even though they are safe I just don't like eating many food storage insects, even though we do that in normal appearing dry goods.
If you (or someone you know) owns chickens, you can use those bug-infested foods for chicken feed. I like to cook them up, bugs and all, in a big stew pot. Any freezer-burned fruits and vegetables can go in there too. Once cooked, dry beans are safe for chickens, although I'd avoid anything with a lot of salt or spices.
Last time I had to deal with pantry bugs, I ended up with 9 gallons of gourmet chicken food! Frozen in easy-to-use portions and given once a day as a treat rather than a mainstay, it lasted about 6 months.

I had an old can of tomatoes explode in my pantry once. That was mess.
I have lot more respect for expiration dates on tomatoes!

My local food bank says that to if canned goods are not damaged you can use them up to one year after the expiration date.

milk is going bad days or a week or more before the printed expiration date Yes. I attributed it to improper handling somewhere along the line.

Boil that spoiled milk Does that refer to bacterial spoilage that smells terrible?

On the milk, someone is cutting corners by letting it warm up somewhere along the line which for even a very short period severely shortens its freshness time.

That seems likely. A FReeper gave me the idea of making milk desserts before the expiration date. Another FReeper said she usually poured her outdated milk into the tomato garden for the calcium (goal being no blossom end rot), but other writers have warned gardeners not to put protein into compost heaps and such. The question of bioavailability crosses the mind but I never looked it up because I usually use all refrigerated or frozen items before they spoil.

I had to condemn a boxcar full of grits that had been at Wheelus AFB when Khadafi ran us out and the US had to leave quickly. They had been in the boxcar for almost seven years so when I inspected them the sacks of grits were infested with confused flour beetles along with other vermin. The boxcar set at cold storage unguarded at the base. There was an apartment owner next to the base that was treating airmen badly. Several bags of the grits ended up in his swimming pool. I thought that an appropriate use.

That makes sense. Thanks.

Now that the Republicans ostensibly controls the House (I realize they haven’t get been sworn in and will not be until next month but the LIVs may not realize that), and all our woes can be blamed on the GOP, are the media now admitting that the economy stinks?
Will we soon see a return of the stories of widows eating cat food and being reduced to having only one meal a day, while sitting in their cold lonely parlor, with the remaining rooms of their hovel closed off in order to conserve heat?
I’m just trying to keep up with the current narrative.

I’ve read that raw milk is going through processes as it spoils and has useful changes, but that pasteurized milk is simply spoiling, and can’t be used in the same way.
