In my local drug store, the Rubbing Alcohol has an expiration date - two years hence.
Why?
Note that the Vodka did not.

The FDA stipulates that all products under it's regulation must have an expiration date.
Booze is not regulated by the FDA.

The expiration date is only a suggestion.

What I’ve noticed is milk is going bad days or a week or more before the printed expiration date. I suspect that producers are cheating on those dates. Anyone else notice this?

Or actually a “sell by” date.

yep, the only meat I can afford. Looking for yellow stickers and hitting the meat department at opening time is essential. FUJB

My grocery store’s in-house bakery sells day-old products. I freeze the bread when there is a bunch of it. Works out great.

My parents depended on them for our food. We were a large family and struggled to make ends meet. When you have four teens all less than four years apart, you look for deals.

Being married to a Russian who loathes to throw away food, I've learned that there's nothing wrong with that milk.
Boil that spoiled milk and you have curds and whey.
With the curds you can make cottage cheese or a simple farmer's cheese and the whey can be used as a base for soups.

First thing I look for is the ‘reduced’ sticker - got a $22 T-bone reduced to $8.25 that way.

I always buy meat at close to expiration date.....
Then vacuum pack and freeze...
Buy it in bulk and save money using a vacuum packer..
You can easily get a year out of the frozen meat
