If prices are up 10% year over year then it is not really a 2.3% rise in sales.

“marking a 2.3 percent rise year over year”
Adjusted for inflation, they spent 10% less than last year.

Precisely. I believe personal debt increased in the last year the most in 20+ years.

I suspect the other half of the news will be carefully hidden:
“... at the expense of brick and mortar retailers, who found a massive year over year decline in sales”
Online is almost always cheaper and you don’t have to get trampled to death by obsessed cow-like doorbuster seekers.

Americans are slobbering with adoration over Biden and his party’s handling of the economy. They will push him over the finish line to a 2nd term with the House and Senate with Dem majorities. Then end of filibuster, packing of Supreme Court and FCC shutting down conservatives on TV and radio. Followed by fully open borders and the end of the Electoral College.
Unless the economy goes into a bad enough recession to be understood even by the educably retarded American people.

Yep. At least 90% on credit, which will now cost about 20% a year for the saps who did it.

Really? I'm paying off all my credit card balances after the 1st of December with the money I did not spend this Thanksgiving buying season. Had to work during Black Friday, and stayed away from the electronic malls and boutiques.

and about 30-40% of online sales is spent on shipping costs
directly affected by the rise in fuel costs
and racketeering practices to get specil deals by the politically connected bigboxazons, so that the average joe pays more for shipping and cant compete and in effect subsidizes the Big Boxazon big fish as they gobble up the market share and raise pricepoints up and up and up ( because they can)

New York City was evidently packed with shoppers. I would never to “Black Friday” in person but it was the front page of the NY Poat.

I bought some 50% off software deals. But nothing physical. For the most part... I stayed home enjoying a weekend of peace and quiet with the animals doing chores on the ranch.

Walmart looked like a normal day on Black Friday.
I ordered some stuff on Wednesday and part of the order was pickup locally. So I ended up at Walmart about 9am on Friday morning. I was expecting a full parking lot.
Instead it was like 1/8th full.
So after getting my pickup delivered outside, I went inside with a mask on. I want neither flu nor covid.
There weren’t even aisle displays, like on a normal black Friday. I head a cashier say, it’s because they’ve had everything available for the last two weeks.
