Missouri voters legalize recreational marijuana, pass Amendment 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Marijuana will soon be legal in Missouri after voters passed Amendment 3 during Tuesday's midterm election, according to a projection from NBC News.

After implementation, people in Missouri age 21 and older will be legally allowed to buy and possess up to three ounces of marijuana and grow as many as six flowering plants at home. Possession limits for medical marijuana card-holders will be even higher.

The lingering question: How soon will this go into effect?

Missouri, which was slow to roll our medical marijuana after its passage in 2018, has until Feb. 7 to figure out a licensing process.

KSHB 41 News reporter Sarah Plake spoke with people in the state's marijuana industry, who anticipate it'll be a fairly easy process to convert their licenses to include recreational marijuana. The term they use is "comprehensive."

This is an issue for conservatives to leave alone, legal marijuana is going to happen just about everywhere, the people want it, it’s going to happen.

Legalize it, manage it, tax it, etc...but quit fighting battles that has already been lost.

When the measure goes into effect on Dec. 8, it will no longer be a crime to possess up to three ounces of marijuana.

Also allows up to 5 flowering plants but I don’t know when that goes into effect.

A severe disaster for the state of Missouri. In the 39 pages that voters did not see, control of the marijuana industry is given to organized crime. Dramatic increase of violence and accidental deaths will ensue, along with the inevitable social breakdown and corruption of everything that substance abuse brings.

Amendment 3 is far worse than simple legalization. This is a Soros-backed amendment which creates a state Director of Equity, constitutionally not answerable to the governor. It will be used as a legal hook to justify continued teaching of CRT in schools. This is the worst possible way to legalize marijuana. I might have voted for that. I voted against Amendment 3. Our state, and our country, are over. Last night was the writing on the wall.

With Fentanyl, the issue may resolve itself.

Yep, it will be 20% of our constitution. Insane. Problem is, how many people actually know that?

The GOP is too cheap to get out the message. I’m in a rural red area and some dem put a half page ad in our little classified ad newspaper saying Vote Blue.

Waste of money but why couldn’t the MO GOP put a half page ad in explaining the 29 pages, 20% of constitution, the pot cartel this will create etc etc?

Yes, people want it and vote for it, but it’s still stupid. I can’t walk down the street in San Francisco anymore without smelling weed. Its use is surging among teens, and it’s a mental-health Chernobyl. Having a significant cohort of the population permanently stoned, stupid and delusional is a pretty disastrous state of affairs. But, hey, it’s what Soros wants, and it’s a great way to preserve liberal/Democrat hegemony.

The GOP is stupid, cheap and lazy.

I happened to hear how much of a mess this is on a new conservative talk radio station, else I wouldn’t have known. I’d say maybe 10% of people knew what a mess it is. The rest only know - legalizes pot.

The left put $8 million into this effort. How much did the MO GOP put into fighting it?

“Legalize it, manage it, tax it”

What I’m hearing is the majority of people in Colorado still buy from street dealers for that very reason......not taxed so it’s cheaper.

I can say personally alcohol was a gateway to Marijuana for me, and Marijuana a gateway to cocaine.....and a couple other drugs.

I hear pot has some medicinal value but in my humble opinion the negatives far outweigh the benefits. Just my 2 cent

Agree with your post. Legal narcotics is the bane of America, and seems consistent with our rush to the precipice. George Soros is clapping with glee.

Yes, the spike in brand damaged individuals we will have running around will be great for society - nothing to be concerned about.

It is especially damaging for anyone 25 and under when their brains have not yet finished developed physically, yet this initiative allows for it people under that age. And certainly many more outside under that age will be consuming including children with so much more of it floating about.

Already observed all of this elsewhere in places where it was legalized. No reason to believe it will be different in Missouri.

Well it seems no conservatives will put their money where their mouth is.

I gave it a quick scan and see nothing non-marijuana related so I think all the talk of CRT in schools was just talk by repubs too cheap to fight money with money. The left with all their orgs, NGOs and money is buying the USA a little at a time.
