Lead Foot City in Brooksville FL holds them about once a month. They set up a huge concrete slab surrounded by Jersey barriers and a chain link fence. So the kids with their rice rockets can have at it, off the public roads and in a safer environment.

That would require shorter distances, unless you get the EV there the day before to allow charging time, and leave the day after, to allow for charging time. Takes the spontaneous part right out of the event.
