Biden ‘disappointed’ by OPEC+ decision to cut oil production

The White House on Wednesday admonished what it called a “shortsighted decision” by OPEC and its allies to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day, a move that could lead to a rise in gas prices domestically.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan and top economic adviser Brian Deese issued a statement that took issue with the decision, citing ongoing concerns about the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“At a time when maintaining a global supply of energy is of paramount importance, this decision will have the most negative impact on lower- and middle-income countries that are already reeling from elevated energy prices,” Sullivan and Deese said in a joint statement, adding that President Biden was “disappointed” by the decision.

And then, suddenly, Biden (or really, his handlers) got a quick lesson in what “dependence on foreign oil” means.

The oil sheiks just gave dementia Joe a big FUJB. To think that two years ago the tables were turned and we could give OPEC the middle finger.

This is actually a stupid move for opec. The world is getting away from oil and reducing oil consumption. Eventually the demand for oil will be quite low. Right now is when they should be increasing production in order to get as much out of it as possible. Hopefully someday they will have huge reserves that nobody wants.

Global South, which represents nearly 80% of the world outside of the West/US/UK/EU/NATO, will demand, buy and be prioritized over the West in the selling of that oil by OPEC, Russia, etc.

Hey Biden, I’ve got an idea. Why don’t you send a plane to launch some torpedoes strapped to HAAWC wings to destroy the Saudi petroleum pipelines that load oil tankers. That will show them! You and your puppet masters are so friggin’ brilliant.

Gosh, just imagine if you hadn’t killed the pipeline from Canada, denied drilling leases, jawboned banks not to invest in fossil fuel companies, etc etc.

But you did do all those things and now prices are going to skyrocket and you will fully deserve all the blame you get for it.

the smart nations will stay on the oil train until there is a viable replacement , the stupid ones will jump on the renewables train which are proven to supply only a miniscule amount of the energy needed.

The world is not getting away from oil consumption, actually. And until they start going full tilt on nuclear energy, they never will.

Not so. World oil consumption has risen every year except the last two covid years. This year it is up over 6% from last year. OPEC is a lot of things but “stupid” is not one of them.
