For the first and likely only time before the November election, Gov. Greg Abbott and Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke are set to face off in a televised debate.
The two will appear onstage at 7 p.m. Central time Friday at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg.
The debate will be on local Nexstar television stations across the state, and The Texas Tribune will livestream the debate here.

Let me do a small correction. It’s a Democrat challenger Puto O’Rourke a.k.a. fake Mexican.
Gov. Abbott should have said “I refuse to have a battle of wits against an unarmed opponent.”
I thought Beto was dodging all debates that Gov. Abbott had proposed.

I watched Abbott’s first response but only lasted about one minute listening to the phony words of a lying Democrat. If I lived in Texas I might continue. The National disinformation media will find a way to spin the debate in favor of Robert Francis no matter what is said anyway.
Nobody seems to know, but I suspect his initials are G.S.
