Penfield, N.Y. — A local private school is facing backlash from some parents over changes to its student handbook. The new policy from the Charles Finney School says it reserves the right to discontinue enrollment of LGBTQ students.
Heidi Buckler enrolled her daughter at Finney, a Christian school in Penfield, in 2018. Her son would follow soon after.
"When we first initially met with everyone, they seemed nice and warm and welcoming," Buckler said. "It seemed like a nice family atmosphere."
Buckler, who describes herself as spiritual, thought a religious education would be beneficial. "They talked about Jesus and the Bible, and we thought that's a great thing for the children to learn about in addition to a strong curriculum,” said Buckler.
This summer, she received an email from the school about updates to the student handbook. The changes shocked Buckler.
"The student lifestyle section in particular I found hateful, and I had to read it a couple times to make sure I was reading it properly,” she said.

What these lefties always label as “hate” always sounds perfectly reasonable to me (and any other normal person.)
Any private school can dump you for any reason. It’s just wrong that these LGBTQ folks are able to take away your right to choose who they wish to associate with or cater to or whatever. They can be what they are...just leave everyone else alone.
Why would you send your kids to a religious school and then expect the school to violate its religious beliefs?
Because alphabet people are the biggest narcissists on the planet.
That’s just queer.
One dingbat gets her feelings hurt = “backlash.”
there’s always the option of NOT going there...
If you’re an institution that has some singular purpose, education, manufacturing, customer service etc. then having someone in your institution as a customer or as an employee who has some agenda not in sync with your purpose is bad.
Take Starbucks. You’d think that making and supplying coffee was their singular purpose. When that was the appearance, they did really well. Then they added in a lot of social welfare and “equity.” It resulted in some of their outlets becoming dangerous and dirty as they had, among other things, opened their bathrooms and booths to vagrants. I don’t know precisely what it did to their bottom line, but I’d bet the stockholders and operators would have been better off if they’d stuck to their one purpose. The problem was the CEO, the perfect example of someone with an agenda that was against the purpose of the organization.
She and this other LGBTQ lovin’ family took their kids out of the school. GOOD!
because the Bible says that Jesus loves everyone regardless,” said Buckler.
Yeah, yeah, yeah...no matter how heinous, twisted or sick. Jesus ALSO, rather famously said “Go. And sin no more”.
These people thought it would be a good idea to ya know, have a little religion sprinkled on their kids lives...but never thought it might actually affect THEM.
Disgusting POS-es.
Bad company corrupts good morals. Good call by the school.
Absolutely.
