California's grid operator is calling for people to limit their electricity usage amid a historic heat wave that is straining the power system in the U.S.' most populous state.
The California Independent System Operator (CAISO), which oversees the state's power grid, on Tuesday afternoon issued an "emergency alert" asking residents to use less power between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
"[R]eal-time analysis shows all resources are committed or forecasted to be in use, and energy deficiencies are expected," CAISO said in a bulletin.
The grid operator expects power demand on Tuesday to rise to 52,000 megawatts, exceeding records set in 2006.
California and other parts of the West face a brutal heat wave, leading to increased power consumption as people try to keep cool. Temperatures in California's Central Valley are expected to be as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit for several days, while in Los Angeles temperatures topped 100 degrees, unusually hot for September.

Ruh roh!
Your eco-lunacy is catching up to you, CA.
I’m thinking we need another border wall.
Too bad Dems never admit they are wrong.
That would take having personal responsibility and integrity. Not Dem qualities.
Get that affirmative action appointee Karine Jean-Pierre to concoct a brilliant and articulate statement solving the whole PR problem.
And all those mandated electric vehicles get charged how?
If they required every illegal alien to bring a bucket of electricity with them when they cross the border, the load should balance out, no?
Gets interesting in about a hour and a half....solar power starts rolling off as sunset nears. See “Resource adequacy capacity trend” or “Net demand trend” at the link below...when the purple line hits the green line the rolling blackouts begin:

In the leftist leaning movie Bound For Glory with David Carradine as Woody Guthrie I have always been bothered by the way the arrogant and cruel Californians closed off the state to Americans arriving there. These Americans weren't going to a foreign country----it was California. They were cheated by bankers, lost their farms and homes, were shunned by priests and ministers, refused jobs by company owners and were starving without any "safety net." Desperate people. They were not lazy like today's entitlement Americans slurping at the public tax money hog trough.
But California had deputies offer to shoot anyone trying to enter.
I'm not a Commie but I don't think that was right.
Gas powered generators?
Maybe removing all those hydroelectric dams was a stupid move after all.
They did have to fire up the nat gas generators (& Newson is importing out-of state coal power too due to the “emergency”):

And spending billions to keep Diablo Canyon nuclear online:
By "generation" I mean power plants of all kinds; by "transmission" I mean wires, transformers, switch gear.
My reason is to keep their stupid from infecting the rest of the country when things really go south there.
I was going to add something but didn't.
I mean I agree with you. They shouldn't ruin us all. I was just letting off steam about a long term grudge for the past (not even about my personal situation---I never went there). A wall would be good there. As Robert Frost wrote "Good border walls make good neighbors." Or something.
Is it California or Gilligan’s Island?
I am not in CA, but my phone number is from CA, and I just received a warning my area would experience rolling blackouts this week.
Yah California!
Showing us all how that one Marxist party - party - parties!
Rationing.
Take power away from the rich people on the coast.
That’ll be more fun.
