Cloudflare is nothing but a CDN - Content Delivery System and DDoS protection service. It packs up your dynamic website into static pages and serves them. All it does is make a website faster and prevent the DDoS thing.
There are other ways to do it. Why do people keep using these services? Cloudflare also shut down Parler. Amazon Web Services was first but everyone else piled on.

BINGO!. That’s what they are. There’s a lot of more DDOS protection services out there. These clowns “boot up” on my screen when accessing anime and manga sites. I dont know those sites use these clowns in the first place.
Absolutely Pollard. Cloudflare is just an optional 3rd party convenience service and not needed at all.
I am starting to wonder if folks are brainwashed into the idea that these 3rd party services are required when they are not at all.
Google tag manager, analytics, cloudflare, etc. None of them are needed but it seems everyone thinks they have to have them.
