This Is Not Your Father’s Republican Party
Liberty Daily ^ | September 5,2022 | By Jeff Crouere

The Bush-Cheney administration was a total disaster. It was focused on nation-building overseas but ignored major problems domestically. Their bungled and delayed reaction to Hurricane Katrina was one of the worst federal government emergency responses in American history.

During their administration, the problem of illegal immigration across our southern border increased dramatically, Fortunately, their foolish idea to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens was defeated after an outpouring of opposition from conservatives across the country.

The many failures of this administration set the stage for the election of the radical leftist Barack Obama as President in 2008. This debacle should have been the end of the Bush-Cheney dominance over the Republican Party.

Unfortunately, it was still influential among some Republicans, so Jeb Bush decided to run for President in 2016. Of course, oddsmakers rated Bush as the favorite. Instead, he was destroyed by a politician of unique ability and incredible appeal, Donald Trump, who created a nickname for the former Florida Governor. Trump called him “Low Energy.” The attack helped destroy Bush’s campaign and he failed miserably without winning one primary.

While Trump was being elected President in 2016, phony Republican Liz Cheney was elected to Congress in Wyoming. She ran on her father’s coattails as a traditional conservative.

Americans soon discovered that Liz Cheney represented the Beltway much more than Wyoming. She is a typical neocon warmonger who was constantly wanting to send U.S. troops overseas to fight in unnecessary wars. She repeatedly tangled with President Trump throughout his tenure. According to Cheney, MAGA is a dangerous philosophy threatening our “freedom.”

Such nonsense has been on total display during the January 6th committee hearings as Cheney, along with the Democrats, have been desperately trying to blame Trump for all the violence on that day. While Cheney has been focusing on Washington D.C., Harriet Hageman, her opponent in the 2022 GOP nomination campaign, was talking to Wyoming voters about important local issues.

The result in the Wyoming Republican primary was a landslide victory for Hageman, an overwhelming repudiation of Liz Cheney and her brand of neocon globalism.

With this defeat, Republican voters sent a clear message that the Bush-Cheney wing of the GOP is no longer powerful, instead, it is irrelevant.

Donald Trump has totally revamped the Republican Party. Voters are concerned about national sovereignty, securing borders, fighting crime, bringing jobs back to our country, ending the endless wars, and stopping the outpouring of American resources to foreign countries.

In 2022, Republican voters want to “Make America Great Again” after decades of disastrous rule from progressive Democrats and establishment Republicans. It is a major reason to be excited about the future of the Republican Party and the country.

Biden often says, “this is not your father’s Republican Party.” Thank God.

“This Is Not Your Father’s Republican Party”

Correct. It’s mostly Obama’s Republican party.

I’m so tired that 20+ years later people are still Monday morning quarter backing the Bush administration. Bush acted strongly and decisively after 9-11. His administration made mistakes, but I’m so glad he was president at that time.

You jumped the shark there. Bush was and is awful but the list of what Clinton and Obongo did to hurt this country is very long. That idiot rat Mayor was the main reason Katrina was the cluster bleep that it was.

I can't stand W.

That being said, for all his stupid, vapid, reach across the aisle BS, Clinton and FUBO were both far worse.

Bush was an enabler who had a moronic idea you could reach out and compromise with evil. Clinton actually began the calculated long march for leftists to take over all the organs of power in the federal bureaucracy. FUBO made the final corruption push we see now.

Naive stupidity, versus intentionally evil banality.

Hurricane Katrina

Tired of this. It wasn’t the Hurricane. It was a levy system failure.

but now WE’RE blaming Bush for Katrina?

Yes, that is nonsense. Once again Karl Rove had his fat fingers on setting his boss up. He was responsible for that stupid photo op showing a dim looking George Bush looking distractedly at a flooded New Orleans from 20, 00 feet on the presidential jet as he flew to California.

Louisiana government failed spectacularly at every level in Katrina and particularly the worthless Gov Blanco and her coterie of fools were in a huge panic and effectively did nothing for days as they tried to figure out a narrative to get them off the hook.

I actually worked on the US Army attempts at responding to the storm effects. The Louisiana state government would absolutely not cooperate in any way. All the normal disaster response actions were stonewalled. All responses HAD to come from the executive office of the Governor. This was made clear in Baton Rouge. The La Army National Guard would not respond to any requests for information on proposed guard mobilization any heavy equipment loans. The La AG office would only say ‘We will tell you how much Title 10 funds we need (not broken down by program) and you all send us the check, You don’t need to know nothing else. The US Army Property and Fiscal Officer told me he was being stonewalled and had a guardsman stationed at his door that demanded the identity of anyone coming to the P&F office. Eventually after going to the state himself Bush got the same treatment only with Sen Mary Landrieu having a hysterical fit and Gov Buncko behaving in the same stone walling mode he just directed the US govt start pushing men and material into the state. The whole operation was really chaotic and did add to the misery of the populace. The Louisiana political establishment were overcome with paranoia that they would be caught in the usual lying and stealing if they were nirmally cooperative with the feds. That is the only thing I can figure caused their behavior.

Where’s the criticism of the Patriot Act and the TSA? They did plenty of domestic damage.

Blanco was following the DNCs orders on what to do so they could blame Bush.

In addition, today’s Squad Party is not my father’s Democrats either. Old people who vote Democrat because they see JFK or Hubert Horatio Hornblower Humphrey in every blue candidate need to get their cataracts removed.

Katrina was the beginning of “let the disaster happen for political gain” politics. The latest was Ulvalde.
