Uncertainty hangs over the planned visit to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant by a team from the UN nuclear watchdog, as inspectors arrived in Ukrainian-controlled Zaporizhzhia city on Wednesday, where they are likely to spend the night before crossing the frontline.
The International Atomic Energy Agency mission into Russian-controlled territory, which comprises representatives from countries deemed neutral by both sides, was reportedly intended to last four days.
But on Wednesday, the Russian-occupying authorities said the IAEA would be given access for one day. They also said the mission would be expected to join the queue of civilians who cross back and forth between territory controlled by Ukraine and Russia. If that happens, it could delay or disrupt the visit.
These potential obstacles come in addition to safety concerns. Ukraine and Russia have given their security guarantees for the mission to travel to the plant and the neighbouring areas, Rafael Grossi, the head of the agency, said before leaving Kyiv.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that the mission would spend four days at the plant. But on Wednesday, Yevgeny Balitsky, the head of the Russian-installed Zaporizhzhia administration, a Russian-appointed official, was quoted by the Russian news agency Interfax as saying the delegates would be given only one day at the facility.
Adding to the suspense, a member of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia administration said the mission would not be given priority and would have to wait in a queue to cross the frontline into the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia province.

Sure, let’s ignore the international press coverage and just pretend that all is well at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant. Soon, the Russians will finish sabotaging the plant and then, when the seasonal winds are right, they will turn it over to the Ukrainians or the IAEA to take the blame as the rigged reactors spew out lethal radioactivity across Ukraine and Western Europe.

Russia is not acting like a responsible nation in this regard. It’s as if Russia is thumbing its nose at the international community. It’s as if Russia were trying to hide something. Not a smart move by Russia, especially if it cares about being seen as a responsible and trustworthy member of the global community. It just reinforces suspicion of Russia. Not a very good look.

Please post your evidence that US operators are firing HIMARS rockets with targeting from US satellites. Because if US personnel are firing at Russian targets, that is more than just an escalation. So, evidence, please.

The inspection was scheduled to take four days. Russia said “Nyet!” and said it would only allow one day. Your comment on post #3 ignored that fact completely. Why?
Moreover, one day is not enough time to make any kind of meaningful inspection; hence, my comment that it is pretty much a prohibition on any substantive inspection.

THE ONLY RELEVANT QUESTIONS ARE WHO IS LOBBING ARTILLERY ONTO THE GROUNDS AND IS RUSSIA USING IT AS A FIRE BASE? DOES IT STORE MUNITIONS? And it is leaking radioactive anywhere? (they already know it is not).

You are profoundly mistaken. The complex is HUGE. Moreover, sensitive instruments must be set up to conduct tests. It would take a day just to set up that equipment at appropriate locations.
You’ll have to consider it takes an American, who speaks English, and who has to have a “secret” security clearance, one month of AIT training on that system. We are training them to use it in Europe someplace, and we don’t exactly have a lot of instructors who know the system and speak Ukrainian or Russian. Do the math.
Sooner or later, we’re going to have to admit that a lot of our soldiers are getting vaporized over there holding Ukrainians’ hands operating these advanced weapons systems.
