A Los Angeles man who has spent the last five months detained in a Venezuela prison is calling on the Biden administration to help secure his release and urging the president not to forget about him.
“No one should be abandoned at the time of their greatest need and when they’re most vulnerable,” Eyvin Hernandez, who was arrested in Venezuela on March 31, told the Associated Press in a jailhouse recording earlier this month. “However, I don’t feel like my government feels that way about me.”
Hernandez was arrested along the Colombia-Venezuela border days before he was scheduled to return to the United States from vacation. His family says he traveled there from the city of Medellin with a Venezuelan friend who needed to get her passport stamped to resolve an issue with her migratory status in Colombia.

Hope he’s an immigration attorney.

In the 1980s Venezuela was not a bad place
What kind of a vacation is that?
Biden does not believe in “no man left behind”. He could not care less about Americans stranded around the world, except maybe for one basketball player in Russia. Good luck to this poor guy.
Medellin is the former home of Pablo Escobar…
Considering Joe probably doesn't remember what he had for breakfast this morning, Mr. Hernandez might be hoping in vain.
What is the charge? The excerpt does not identify why he was detained, and it may be completely unrelated to the reasons why he thinks it is unfair.
I have a friend who went back to Colombia to retire (and found a special needs school on his land). He posts pictures on Facebook that are so beautiful. The countryside and villages are so charming. If I thought it safe enough, I would definitely go for a visit. It’s charming like Austria or other pics of the Alps. Or like parts of Colorado, the farming valleys.
I could totally see someone going there to visit family, for a vacation. But then I know a family that goes to their family reunion in Lebanon every year. Safety is relative I guess.
Sorry, fella, yer on yer own . . .
Except they are growing pot and poppy.

Hernandez is charged with illegally entering the country (Venezuela), criminal association and conspiracy.
Facing up to 16 years for immigration violation.
Unlike the US, Venezuela enforces immigration laws. Also, that area is where the US has had people illegally entering Venezuela in the US bid to oust Maduro.
Sounds like one of those vacations where you bring home a suitcase of $100 bills.
Yep, something not right.
Maybe Dennis Rodman would be interested.
Well, the friend he was helping was a female. 🙂
I guess he wasn’t watching when the US left Afghanistan.
He was up to no good, that his clear. Just like that tranny basketball guy in Russia. Playing stupid games…
“Send Lawyers, Guns and Money....”
“I want to see my ambassador”.
“He’s in the next cell”.
