China is attempting to increase its naval warship capabilities by restarting its mass production of guided-missile destroyers, according to multiple reports.

The Chinese Communist Party-controlled newspaper the Global Times reported on Tuesday that China would complete its military expansion and modernization by 2035, “including the development of a blue-water navy, to match the country’s international status and better defend its interests," while Naval News reported that five 052D destroyers, which are capable for launching long-range missiles, are currently being built.

I think our navy is Top heavy, in the we need more subs than Floating airbase’s.
I tend to be “a kill them all” as opposed to show off.

Huh! California will ban gasoline cars by 2035, so take that, China!

The modern technological era and the silicon chip have made naval surface combatants obsolete death traps.

They will station them in New Guinea and steal the fish in the South Pacific. A billion+ people to feed. Polynesia dominated by the French. Now it’s the Chicoms.

They better remember to build a lot of Tugboats. And Tugboats to tug the Tugboats.

Sacrilege! Without carriers they would lose all those Admiral slots.

Make one wonder many Chicom surface ships could be destroyed by just one of our nuclear powered subs firing guided missiles from under the sea, at those Chicom surface ships.

Out-of-date old news!

Should have dated this 1999 or 2000...
That’s when a famous Freeper reported it here on FR...

Subs can’t do amphibious landings. Subs can’t transport heavy cargo. Subs can’t support air supoirority. In short, subs are not the miracle weapon system some make it out to be.

I agree. We have carrier battle groups that are supposedly protected by technology. Phased array radars all over, support from Arleigh Burke Missile Cruisers, etc.

And the Chinese have been working on overhead carrier killers with MIRVS (Long Duong), and a conventional air force that would just wither away our carrier based naval aviator force by sheer attrition. There just aren’t enough missiles, IMO.

I remind people here that it was a CHINESE sub who surfaced in within 5 miles of a carrier battle group exercise (undetected) in the Pacific in 2016

China has long been trying to establish control over ocean routes and has also been watching the Russians bombard Ukrainian civilians from Russian ships in the Black Sea.

LOL. So you think the sub was "undetected"? I am sure there was a USN SSN right on its tail the whole time. Also, my guess is SOSUS had a pretty good idea the general area of probablity that sub was in. Those that have never spent a minute at sea are experts. Right....
