Steve Wells has conceded the 22nd Congressional District’s Republican Primary to Brandon Williams, who’s declared victory.
Williams’ win is considered an upset because Wells was backed by the GOP committees in the counties of NY-22, had name recognition and more money.
Williams also has the Conservative Party endorsement.

Did you guys read the article? McCarthy and the NYGOP’s handpicked candidate Wells, lost. This is a great result for Republicans.
I know its hard to believe NY has real conservatives but Central NY has been Trump country all along. Agree we are in a a sea of blue elsewhere.

Couple of items on this race.
Steven Wells is apparently on the ballot on the Independence line (for now).
The before and after of the district map shows a much more compact district that now includes Syracuse.

The August 3, 2022 finance reports show Francis Conole raised over $1 million compared to Brandon Williams $214K. But Steven Wells out spent Brandon by 3 to 1 (assuming a hugh chuck of money did not come in, in the last two weeks)
