The U.S. automakers are pushing EVs because they figure their best strategy for staying in business is to sell overpriced cars with a bunch of UAW-made powertrain components replaced by batteries produced with non-union labor.

Most Japanese and Korean companies don’t have to deal with that issue.

Here’s the deal. I’ve got a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I can put 20 gallons of 87 octane regular in it in under 3 minutes and that will get me about 400 miles down the road, give or take. So, someone build an EV truck that I can get 400 miles of charge in under 3 minutes and at the same price as a Ram 1500 and then I might consider it. Otherwise, it’s a high priced, virtue signaling grocery getter.

“I don’t think the market is ready. I don’t think the infrastructure is ready. And even if you were ready to purchase one, and if you could afford it … they’re still too high,” Hollis says.”

I predict Hollis will be out of a job in a few weeks. You can’t go against the narrative like that.

They somehow jack up gas price after election to the point where an ev is meaningful

Just wait until they tax the hell out of gasoline, and ICE vehicles, and won’t allow you to take out a loan to buy an ICE car.

“Lack of consumer demand” means the damn things are too expensive, don’t go far on a charge, take a half hour at minimum to charge, and need battery replacements that cost as much as a gas-powered car.

Will the government criminalize the gas-powered car and tax us to pay for the “poor” peoples’ cars?

My diesel,a mid sized sedan,is quite nice.Well equipped, comfortable, all the latest gadgets (or at least most of them). It's particularly well suited for the Interstate. On two different occasions I've gotten 800 miles...Interstate miles...on a tankful.

Never, ever, ever would I settle for a vehicle that gets 300 miles (if the wind's at my back) on a "tankful" and then be forced to wait 2+ hours for it to be filled again...if I can find a charging station.

Never.

State and federal gov’t will mandate you buy one; all gas and diesel fuels will be closed off.

The goal of overselling EV’s is not to replace gas vehicles; the goal is to force us peons into a backward, dependent state of using horses, bicycles or walking. It's part of the elitist power grab. There is simply no way ev’s can replace gas vehicles-ever.

says Jack Hollis, executive vice president of sales at Toyota Motor North America.

I expect from our present fascist/statist political environment, Toyota will be forced to fire this man.

Toyota has been right on the money when it comes to EVs. They know their markets. Because of range anxiety, if consumers choose to go the green route, they will switch to hybrids, a market that Toyota excels at, which do not require EV infrastructure, yet will get the consumer great gas mileage without the ridiculous sticker price that EVs carry. When the infrastructure is there, then Toyota will move into those markets. Good management dictates you don’t put the horse before the cart
