TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida deputy who was caught on video pointing a gun at a pregnant Black woman during a traffic stop has resigned, authorities tell WFLA.
Deputy Jason Desue left the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office after the incident, which occurred around midnight on Friday, Aug. 12, First Coast News reported.
The mother, Ebony Washington, who is four months pregnant, told WJAX she and her four children were on their way home to Jacksonville from Gainesville when Desue tried to pull her over for speeding. She was going 75 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone, according to reports.

Good Lord that article is just full of identity politics. Did the officer act professionally? Arguably not. This article though... just oozing with what ifs and innuendo.
12 weeks pregnant? how would anyone know and how is this germane to the discussion?
I’d like to know how long it took for her to find the parking lot. How far is it from the point when the officer lit her up and the place she pulled over? 1 mile? 5 miles? It makes a difference.

This woman might represent a certain cohort that declares “I’m pregnant, just so you know” as an advance warning of entitlement. Generally, when asked, its a first trimester situation. This cohort is frequently encountered at crime scenes, assaults, MVAs.
In Illinois 20 mph over the limit gets you arrested on the spot.

He pulled the gun out as soon as he opened his door. He had no way of knowing he was pointing it at a black person, much less a pregnant female. It’s dark and you can hardly see a thing.
Why didn’t she pull over sooner?
Are we to start thinking that it’s ok to not pull over for a cop, especially going 20 mph over the speed limit? He’s not wrong in thinking that someone is trying to escape arrest.
I would bet he’s decided it’s not worth his time and his life to keep going on as a police officer. It’s a thankless job.

US Route 301 through Bradford County is a notorious speed trap.

Note that the stop was in the heart of the notorious speed trap.
Perhaps this ridiculously aggressive stop by Deputy Big Ego will draw attention to the absurdity of allowing these tyrannical small town speed traps to persist. All they do is predate on out-of-town drivers to pad their local budgets. It’s armed robbery under color of law is what it is.
Were this occurring in 1775 our Forefather’s response would be swift and appropriate. Why we put up with this crap today escapes me.
The woman was pregnant and had other small children in the car. She slowed down immediately and put on her flashers, but drove about 1 1/2 miles to a well-lighted gas station, since she was on a dark isolated road.
The officer was irate that she had not pulled over immediately.
I think every woman (indeed every driver) is entitled to wait for a safe area to stop. There are too many creeps that figure out how to put flashing lights on their car.
This deputy is exactly the sort who shouldn’t be one.
When the State gives you a gun, and a badge, you *must* be held to a higher standard.
