The man who shot President Ronald Reagan in the early 1980s says he supports stricter gun control measures — including keeping firearms out of the hands of people with mental health problems.

John Hinckley Jr. — who was released from court oversight last month – believes there are “too many guns in America,” he told ABC’s “Nightline” in an interview that aired Tuesday night.

“I certainly don’t think the mentally ill should have access to guns, I mean that’s kind of obvious,’ Hinckley, 67, told reporter Juju Chang.

This adds immeasurably to the gravitas and stature of our esteemed news media./S

I am too easily triggered by no bail, early release, overcrowding release, parole and other excuses.

Smirking and smiling perps next to their defense attorney in court as the key evidence is ruled inadmissible and the totally guilty perp is let go, is a super trigger for me.

Alec Baldwin:
I didn’t pull the trigger.

Bill Clinton:
I never...

Hinkley:
Too many (self firing) guns.

and on, and on

A fat mid-twenties boy shot the President of the United States to impress a lesbian actress. Think about that for a while.

I’d like to hear from Charles Manson on the dangers of cults, maybe.

And from Jeffery Dahmer on proper nutrition.

Can someone explain why we should be listening to John Hinckley at the national level for advice on any topic?

I think maybe you got that a bit twisted?

I think you meant to say:

..... here’s a crazy person who says “NORMAL people shouldn’t have guns.”

Then, only crazy people will have guns?

Scott Hinckley, brother of John W. Hinckley Jr., was to have dined [the evening before the Reagan assassination attempt] in Denver at the home of Neil Bush, one of the former CIA director and then-current Vice President, GHWB's sons, as reported the next day in the Houston Post (see below).

Hinckley has for over forty years been in the CIA's sphere of influence, which hasn't changed to the present day.

A fat mid-twenties boy (whose family were close friends with the family of the Vice President and former bitter primary rival of the President) shot the President of the United States...

I really don't need advice on my rights from a convicted felon. He already demonstrated his inability to exercise his rights in civil society. When that occurs, imprisonment is a suitable solution to protect the rest of civil society.

So the shooter wants to blame the lack of gun control laws. I guess he’s as sane as any other supporter of gun control.

He tried to kill a President but that didn't work so now he wants to kill the Constitution.

Reformed and rehabilitated? I'll believe it when he stops blaming the gun.

I guess John Dean wasn’t available for comment today. It’s nice to see that if the go-to loser criminal is unavailable for comment, the media has another ready in the bullpen
