Donald Trump has shared a poll indicating he would comprehensively beat Ron DeSantis for the 2024 Republican nomination for president amid continuing speculation the Florida governor is planning on announcing his candidacy.

The former president shared the results of a recent Zogby Poll on Truth Social on Wednesday that indicated that he is still an overwhelming favorite to clinch the Republican nomination should he choose to run.

The survey shows Trump has the backing of nearly 54 percent of votes from Republican primary voters—just under five times the amount that second place DeSantis received (11.5 percent).

Of course, if DeSantis should win, Trump would implore his voters to sit out the General.

There is NO doubt Trump would win the primary. DeSantis should overtly support Trump if Trump announces and then continue to do his best in Florida.

I like DeSantis just fine.

But I want to send the message that the country likes Trump, has always liked Trump, and that Biden stole the election in 2020. I think it is important that Trump run and win in 2024.

I really hope this primary season doesn’t descend into another stupid intra party squabble. We really cannot afford it now.

DeSantis is still really young (early 40’s), I think the perfect scenario would be him running as Trump’s VP in 2024. Since Trump can only serve one term, DeSantis would be the heir apparent in 2028 and could basically start his campaign the day Trump is sworn in.

I hope Trump doesn’t allow the Agendanista Mainstream Media to bait him with their ever present campaign to stir up Trump-DeSantis competition.

Of course, a good number of FReepers have already foolishly been influenced by that campaign.

Additional analysis...

Trump in control of 2024, and Pence surging vs. DeSantis

Former President Donald Trump can’t be beat in a GOP primary. That’s clear in new polling.

But if the 45th president decides to skip 2024, the race between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence could heat up.

In the latest Zogby Poll provided exclusively to Secrets, Trump leads the rest of the GOP field by a country mile. He clocks in with 53.9% of the GOP vote, followed by DeSantis at 11.5% and Pence, Trump’s former No. 2, at 9.7%.

“Even though former President Donald Trump has yet to officially announce his 2024 presidential candidacy, he still dominates the GOP as a kingmaker and the most recognizable name in Republican politics,” said Jonathan Zogby in his analysis.

He found that Trump dominates every single voting demographic, making it difficult for any challenger, though DeSantis and Pence are making a stab at it, along with former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

“Donald Trump continues his hold on the Republican Party. If he decides to run, he will be the nominee. He is the ‘Teflon Don,’” said Zogby.

“...and that Biden stole the election in 2020. I think it is important that Trump run and win in 2024.”

~~~
Democrats controlled strongholds in Atlanta, Philadelphia and other key cities will harvest enough ballots to cause over 100 electoral vote swing, even today. Almost nothing has changed since 2020. Trump can be loved by 100 million voters and Biden loathed more than Carter, and it wont matter.
I like a Trump/DeSantis ticket—then DeSantis/Cruz for the next 8 years. Cruz for another 8. Assuming we survive to 2024.
Consider the source....this is a bullshit story weakly designed drive a wedge between the two.
The article also references bookmakers and politico.
Trump and DeSantis are closer than most people know.
And just why would President Trump do that?
Draft Trump now. He is the only one who can save this Nation and the World, Waiting will only bring on the loss of the American Dollar as the World’s Reserve Currency. China must get control of WRC to economically survive.
I think this falls under the heading of All publicity is good publicity.
The 2024 election is so far distant that present events are mostly just discussion.
Future events will determine the final outcome
The only certainty is that the Democrats are the party with the bad problem
