Lithuania: We're ready if Russia cuts us out of common power grid over Kaliningrad disruptions

VILNIUS (Reuters) - Lithuania will be prepared if Russia disconnects it from the regional power grid in retaliation for blocking rail shipments of some Russian goods to Moscow's Kaliningrad exclave, but no military confrontation is expected, its president told Reuters.

He spoke after the Kremlin warned Lithuania on Tuesday that Moscow would respond to the ban on the transit of goods sanctioned by the EU to Kaliningrad in such a way that citizens of the Baltic state would feel the pain.

With relations between Moscow and the West at a half-century low over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Lithuania banned the transit of goods sanctioned by the European Union across its territory to and from Kaliningrad, citing EU sanction rules.

Kaliningrad is sandwiched between NATO members Poland and Lithuania and supplied by rail via the territory of Lithuania.

Lithuania shut the route for transport of steel and other ferrous metals from mainland Russia on Friday, saying it had to do so under EU sanctions that took effect that day.

"We are ready and we are prepared for unfriendly actions from Russia (in response), such as disconnection from the BRELL (power grid) system, or others," Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said in the interview on Wednesday.

Thirty years after seceding from the then-Soviet Union and 17 years since joining the EU, Baltic states Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia still depend on Russiafor stable power supplies.

However, Lithuania installed equipment on its power link to Poland last year to connect with the continental European grid quickly as an insurance policy in case Russia cuts off the flow of electricity, potentially causing blackouts.

A 1.6-billion-euro ($1.94 billion) EU-funded project aims to disconnect the Baltic states from their common power grid with Russia and Belarus in 2025 in favour of the decentralised power system of continental Europe.

Lithuania would never blockade Russia. Never. They’re not insane.
This is another effort by the Biden regime’s Puppetmeisters to fire up WW3

Get prepared. This “little” step could very easily be the trigger

Keep provocating.
And be assured, the US is behind the scenes orchestrating.

Yes, indeed, and provocations have consequences.

Keep poking mofos and sooner or later, the sh*t going to backfire on your ass. Maybe that is why the White House and Pentagon, etc. have been told to tamp down the propaganda its been spewing regarding Russia and the conflict, yeah? Hmmm.

Ukraine falls, in what ever form it falls in, not only is the West and NATO going to look like warmed over sh*t, the US will be dropped a reputation notch as well. Bet.

The European grid is already under stress, Lithuania hooking up to it will only make that worse. What if Russia cuts off all gas and oil to Europe, what then? Euro’s will be forced to set their thermostat at 50° this winter.

Lithuania is just softening them up for the ultimate takeover.

Russia will be a US/EU colony soon enough.

Then we’ll have a nice nort/south corridor to China.

NATO’s little sockpuppet runs its little punk mouth.

Filled with impotent rage, Russia's little sockpuppet runs its little punk mouth on FR, typing furiously at its computer with its stubby little fingers.

In order to “build back better,” the fascists first have to burn it all down.

That is what is in play here and there and the fools are too stupid to understand it. But they will catch on soon enough. When it is too late.

I don't remember being involved in the run-up to Operation Iraqi Freedom on FR, so I'll have to check my old posts.

Was FR this over-run with blood-thirsty warmongers back then?  thinking face

In this thread:

Read every pro-Putin post in the voice of a 1930’s schoolyard bully. They are funny.

It’s almost like Russia is afraid of these little guys. Instead of showing their might by airlifting and sea listing their goods, they cry like little kids.

Yes. If you weren’t for invading Iraq you were an Iraqi mole. Lots of love for Clinton’s Balkans deflection too. Big Patriot Act supporters as well.

Currently the Lithuanians are enforcing the 1993 treaty with Russia >> to the letter <<.

There is no violation of any agreement here. Lithuania is still allowing the transport of people, food, and consumer goods across the corridor. But they’re restricting militarily useful goods such as vehicles, weapons, ammunition, explosives, concrete, rebar, and etc.

If Russia wants to cut off Lithuania and all of the rest of Europe from electricity, gas, oil, and etc. then please do so! President Trump warned these fools against depending on a dictatorship for strategic resources and now they need to pay a price and cut ties with the gangster state of Russia.

In the meantime Russia is still free to transit sanctioned good via the Baltic.
