TUCKER, Ga. (AP) — Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams is proposing a big teacher pay raise in her run for governor, saying Republican Gov. Brian Kemp’s much-touted $5,000 across-the-board increase is not enough to recruit new teachers and retain current teachers.

“We are losing the fight for our children’s future,” Abrams said Sunday as she accepted the endorsement of the Georgia Association of Educators.

Georgia has long had the highest average teacher pay in the South, but Abrams is proposing a $1.65 billion bump over four years.

Abrams said that would boost Georgia, which currently ranks 21st in pay nationwide into the top 10.

Kemp’s $5,000 raise was a signature 2018 promise that he finished delivering this year. But Lisa Morgan, the president of the Georgia Association of Educators, said Georgia teachers have fallen behind inflation despite that.

Big raises to teach your kids CRT, gender identity and how to hate America. Sorry, no sympathy for public school teachers anymore.

"Retain teachers??"

What in the hell else are they going to do ?

These people are insane, and all the GA GOP will do is go along with the pandering, even though they will never even get any credit for it.

I’m worried that all those teachers who almost always vote for conservatives are now going to change and vote for the commie.

“””Republican Gov. Brian Kemp’s much-touted $5,000 across-the-board increase”””

We are seeing story after story about the garbage being taught by the government run schools.

And yet the politicians want to pay the government teachers even more money for those teachers to indoctrinate.

Wake up America and start purging these schools of the radical teachers, administrators, and school boards.

So she’s saying she will raise School Property Taxes significantly to pay for those union salary increases (which get kicked back to the democrat party bosses).
