I would not be at all surprised if 60% of the American public believed inflation was Putin’s fault.

Nobody makes more money on gas than the government. People complain about big oil, but not big government.

They can’t be put out of business. but they can take them over. make them government companies that they can then cause havoc like third world countries that have huge oil reserves.

Their operating margin is 9%. So, that’s 9 cents made for every dollar spent. Not exactly high profit.

On the other hand, Warren Buffet’s railroad that is transporting most of the crude in this country has a 60% operating margin.

When is he going to pay taxes on his outrageous profits?

Thank you for that 6.5% profit rate.

Back in economics class 35 years ago I think I recall the professor saying a company needs to be making 10% profit to be worthwhile.

Maybe 5 years ago I was looking at the numbers, and iirc banks were the most profitable, with something like 30% profit margins.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

1. 2019 - US oil production was a record 12.23 million barrels per day.

2. 2020 - 11.3 million barrels per day

3. 2021 - 11.185 million barrels per day

4. 2022 - 11.9 million barrels per day.

And now Exxon reports record profits for past fourth quarter. I don't know how the industry works but it looks like the oil companies are screwing us over with these record high gas prices.....

The oil and gas are industries that Joe “Touch of Shit” screwed up and the blames every one but the Girl Scouts for the problems he created. I remember that Obama said of him: Never underestimate Joe’s ability to f**k things up.
