We know that state and intelligence agencies and Ike oligarchic govt pay agents to infiltrate and disseminate propaganda non stop and to smear independent sources like that nbc hack did Eva Bartlett

A few days ago

https://youtube.com/c/EvaKBartlett

I’m sure some are here no question

Quite a few I’ve never seen till the Russian intervention started
Zelensky is just a puppet or actor for his primary oligarchs and our foreign service and White House apparati

Some say the Sunni oligarch the nations most powerful is the real power behind the throne

Putin has no such issues he is shotcaller period

He purged most of the Jewish apparatchiks who took state industries public overnight becoming billionaires

Putin thought they were too cozy with western investment banks and underwriters and purged or otherwise dealt with them only keeping abramovich

Maybe one other and Installing loyalists

Very diff scenario for him to rule

Azov and other ultranationalist ignore zelensky and ridicule him

Putin can command Chechen warlord and Syrian and Ossetian professionals and Crimean tartars and Cossacks etc

He is supreme ruler

To defy Putin in the leadership ranks is unwise

As has been proven over and over again

He’s also very very unwoke dictator

Strong realistic and hates western decay

Why he and trump had rapport

And why all western deep state detest them both

I know who’s car I’m in

The anti deep state globalists

Only exception I see here are some old folks who hate Russia so much they are simply locked in beyond empirical analysis of the sit rep

I see you became a Freeper in 2019. Therefore you missed a very busy time on line here. I was not payng attention to the Balkans as it was during a time when my mother, father, and husband were dying. I was too busy with care giving and estate issues to pay much attention. However in 2011 I had been here for a number of years and followed the Lybian struggle as closely as I have been following Putin’s WAR. I have pinged some people who I know were following Libya. They may hove thoughts about this too.

First of all, how aware were you of the mushrooming Arab Spring? It started in Tunisia on Libya’s western border and was soon happening in Egypt, east of Libya. It eventually landed in Syria where Assad stomped on it viciously where it is still causing great misery a decade later. Like many recent conflicts including Ukraine, oil had an important role, discussed at length by Freepers then. Libya has light sweet crude, very popular in France and Europe.

Libya had 3 major centers with various tribal sympathies—Bengazi (a large city, 700k people) on the east, Sirte center along the coast (Gaddafi’s tribal stronghold), and Tripoli in the west behind the port city Misrata and in front of the Atlas Mountains (with their Berber tribal peoples). Gaddafi had maintained control for many years by means that included cruelty and murder, as well as playing one tribe against another. The people of Benghazi were rebelling, getting killed, attracting interest from outside sources, and setting the stage for what became a civil war that ended up with killing Gaddafi.

As my son was in Special Forces my greatest attention was to following the battles and progress of the war, and talking with him. I followed the daily reports of coastal fighting to advance on Sirte. FReepers posted photos of the rebels converted vehicles that resembled technicles(sp?) from Somolia or Thunderdome. Many applauded when Sirte was taken. Action then shifted to the mountains where the Berbers whose lives and language knew years of mistreatment were rebelling. The port at Misrata was being bombarded to prevent delivery od food, medicine, and weapons for rebels.

There were well known Republicans who expressed concern for the suffering in Libya. John Bolton who was considering a run for President spoke against Gaddafi at a large Republican political event where his thoghts were favorably received. Sarah Palin had some sensible things to say about the issues. Many FReepers followed the trail of the battles. I particularly remember people being upset as help crossed the border from Tunisia and battles moved east from town to town in the mountains and Berber rebels prepared to move toward Tripoli. Both rebels in the mountains and Misrata were being bombed by Gaddafi’s fighters. Freepers were wondering why Europe or the US were not helping. I have the impression that NATO help was generally desired and approved by many FReepers following the fighting.

It seemed there were some FReepers especially interested in the fighting and others more interested in the political and diplomatic implications. I was following the fighting and have no specific memories about the other group of viewpoints. All I can say at this point is the range of views on Libya were as wide as the current range of views here on Putin’s war.
