Vladimir Putin's humiliating climbdown amid fears of British Harpoon missiles

The UK and Denmark have sent Harpoon anti-ship missiles to Ukraine which has led to President Putin ordering his warships to retreat 60 miles from the coast.

Russia is desperately trying to fit warships with anti-air defences normally meant for land as Vladimir Putin fears Britain's deadly Harpoon missiles - which are being sent to Ukraine, according to reports.

The UK and Denmark have sent Harpoon anti-ship missiles to Ukraine which has led to President Putin ordering his warships to retreat 60 miles from the coast.

The humiliating climbdown suggests the attacks Putin was targeting on a beach in Odessa have to be scaled back after two Ukrainian missiles sunk the Russian warship Moskva.

The devastating U-turn for the Russian president has seen Putin shift his tactics following the news UK and Denmark gave Ukraine Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

The missiles can sink a ship over the horizon at a distance of over 80 miles and experts believe Russia are starting to panic as a result of the new deadly Harpoon.

Recent reports a pictures shared online have shown a Russian Navy ship in Sevastopol with a Tor 2 anti-aircraft missile launcher chained to the helicopter deck - and three other ships have followed suit.

However, the effectiveness of tying down the Tor 2 anti-aircraft missile launcher onto a seafaring vessel is still unknown against Harpoons.

The land-based mobile launchers are used to take down helicopters and drones but their effectives against Harpoons, which fly just above the surface of the water to evade a warship's defences, is unclear.

If Putin was a Communist, every left-wing organization in the world would be demonstrating against any military aid of any kind to the Ukraine.

This Ukranian "expedition" by Russia has been far more revealing about the ineptitude and diminished capabilities of Russia's military than they thought. I wouldn't want to back them into a corner with their nukes, because all sorts of bad things can happen with those.

Russia won’t be making Ukraine into a vassal state.

That is the loss.

Ukraine may be able to take back Donbas, but that’s a stretch. However the fact that they kept the supposedly 2nd strongest ,military away is the victory

Some ships are more purpose built and lack full AA capability. For example ASW frigates don’t have much in the way of AA. They are designed to steam in company with ships that are AA platforms. They might have point defense but no AA missiles.

The Moskva HAD anti-air and anti-missile that obviously didn’t work.

In this case the sea is not a major factor. An annoyance for the Russians but not decisive. The situation is 99% land action. Of which Russia has an abundance, no matter what the Soros-controlled rags have to say.

Taking all of Ukraine wasn’t one of the goals. It was explicitly stated:

“In this regard, in accordance with Article 51 of Part 7 of the UN Charter, with the sanction of the Federation Council of Russia and in pursuance of the treaties of friendship and mutual assistance ratified by the Federal Assembly on 22 February this year with the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic, I decided to conduct a special military operation...

At the same time, our plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories.”

I thought McDonell Douglas ( now part of Boeing) developed it in the 70’s and built the Harpoon in America, not England.

Russians lost a colonel in Kherson yesterday. Too funny what’s happening to Putin in the south.

I can understand your take on it.

Look, none of the Russian troops want to be there > IMO.

I don’t like seeing Russians killed either, while Vlad
tries to make a name for himself.

Nothing is going to warrant the damage done to the Ukraine
people, their infrastructure, and the deaths on both sides
of the isle.

Putin just chalks these up to the cost of him looking
like Peter the Principle.

The guy finally advanced to a position he couldn’t handle
legitimately.

That’s exactly what Rush Limbaugh used to say about Putin. Rush had Putin’s number from the very beginning.
