An Appeals court in MD or NC (Mid-Atlantic) ruled that someone deemed an Insurrectionist by simply attending a function such as Jan 6th (not breaking any laws) can be banned from holding office.
That’s crazy. People have the right to vote for Bobby Byrd, let’s say, in WVA, or Maxine Waters, who publicly called for Violence and mob action.
We have a President with a couple Corvettes trying to ban Fossil Fuels who’s calling for Gun legislation while his son broke Federal Gun laws with impunity.

If someone is a danger to themselves or others, they should be locked up. Taking a gun does nothing but serve as a confiscation program.
Most of these claims are ruled on at night by a magistrate, not a judge, so they get rubber stamped in favor of confiscation.
So-called “red flag” laws are a terrible idea.
Firstly, we already have laws to declare someone mentally incompetent and to involuntarily commit them. What red flag laws allow is for the police to show up, grab their guns without due process of law, and then do nothing else.
Think of it. We say a person is mentally unstable and needs help. So we grab their guns and then don’t get them any kind of help. We leave the car keys and any of a number of other things they could use to cause harm. We just grab the guns. Oh, and it doesn’t take a psychiatric evaluation of any kind. Anybody can just make an accusation and that’s all it takes for the cops to show up and grab their guns.....and yes, this has been weaponized by ex spouses or ex girlfriends/boyfriends as anybody with even half a brain could have predicted was going to happen.
In one case in Maryland the cops launched a pre dawn raid to grab a guy’s guns without making it clear who they were and shot and killed him when he reacted by going for his guns because he thought he was being attacked.
Anything that allows the legal system to ignore due process of law is a terrible idea.
Yeah, and thanx to him, I can’t buy a machine gun made after ‘86. I always figured he had a machine gun collection and wanted a ten fold increase in their value before he left office.
