Critical race theory is being injected into medicine and as a doctor it alarms me
FOX News.com ^ | May 24, 2020 | Stephen Leonard, M.D.

I will not be renewing my medical license in Massachusetts. Last month, I received an email from the state Board of Registration in Medicine informing me that to maintain my license, I must "complete a continuing medical education requirement" on "implicit bias in healthcare."

Massachusetts has long been a center of excellence in medicine, so it is particularly distressing to see politics intrude into this life-saving field. I cannot be party to the ideological corruption of my profession, which will injure physicians and patients alike.

My approach to medicine and life was shaped by two early influences: my father, who was also a physician, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whom I had the privilege to hear speak in person on several occasions.

As a 16-year-old who already wanted to go to medical school, I was forever changed by Dr. King’s "I have a dream" speech in 1963.

As the lie of implicit bias spreads, health care will segregate along racial lines. Already, there are demagogues telling patients they should only see physicians of their same race.

Implicit bias training is premised on the notion that I am inherently prejudiced toward those who don’t look like me and unconsciously driven to provide them with a lower standard of care – a claim that has no medical or scientific basis. This is both personally insulting and professionally dangerous, and I categorically reject it.

WHAT IS CRITICAL RACE THEORY?

WHAT IS CRITICAL RACE THEORY?

Trust between physicians and patients is essential to individual health, yet that trust withers when the presumption of implicit bias takes root. What patient would seek care from a supposedly biased physician?

I’m a white Christian and if I need a doctor I want a nice Jewish kid who graduated top of his class at Harvard, not some diversity hire who attended an online college in Mumbai.

It’s getting so tedious. Earlier this year, I went to the doctor’s office. I was a new patient, so I had to fill out the usual forms. Along with medical history, the forms included questions about preferred pronouns, gender identity and sexual preferences. The staff was also obsessed about masks. Let’s just say it was my first and last visit there.

“I will not be renewing my medical license in Massachusetts.”

Another one who is finally waking up and seeing the light. Though I prefer he not move to a red state to contaminate it with his other liberal views he no doubt still has, let him suffer that for which he voted for. He just doesn’t care for the liberal ideologies that affect him personally, he’s probably fine with the rest.

Politics has been intruding in medicine in Massachusetts for decades and decades. I applaud this professional for taking a stand but it’s certainly nothing really new in the communist state of Massachusetts.

Or—he may be on the fence waiting to join the fight against the left—if somebody showed him the way...

“who graduated top of his class at Harvard”

I use to think that way, but found most of them wholly embedded in establishment views, and their overweening ambition seems to take precedence over everything else. (i.e. the type who would never prescribe ivermectin for covid). I walked out of the office of my Harvard medical school educated doctor after he insisted I still be vaxx after just recovering from covid and having natural immunity.

Then this clown refused to order any lab tests for me because in his words “oh you just want them to diagnose yourself, you refuse to listen to me”. The one thing these Ivy league folks do seem to possess in abundance is arrogance, not superior medical knowledge. And in the fight over affirmative actin at Harvard it was revealed that almost 30% of admittances were legacy admittances, so I wouldn’t automatically assume they all exhibited superior academic achievement.

“implicit bias in healthcare.”

Implicit bias, as described, changes based upon time of day, day of week, and whether or not one has had one’s morning coffee. It is nonrepeatable, even for the same individual.

Arrogance in a doctor is very dangerous for their patients.

You want a doctor who will listen and learn—and try to work with you to find good solutions you both can live with...

It should be pretty easy to not renew his medical license since he is 75 years old.   It sounds like a no brainer in more ways than one.

Many of the most talented Nigerians are from the Ibo tribe.

It would be interesting to know if your doc was from that group.

The Ibo tribe is kinda an inside “trick” in affirmative action university admissions and corporate hiring.

They would be well qualified without affirmative action so there is de facto discrimination against non Ibo candidates.

As with anything else in this world, nothing works exactly the way the social engineers think it will.
