Afghanistan’s National Resistance Front, an opposition group, is claiming this evening to be on the verge of victories over the Taliban in several districts in the country’s Northeastern provinces.
The NRF, which describes itself as “the last force fighting for the restoration of democracy in Afghanistan,” expressed hopes that these victories were the first steps in an effort to liberate the country from Taliban rule.
It noted, though, that it was working without foreign aid that could bolster its efforts. Security analysts, meanwhile, expressed skepticism over whether the NRF could topple the new regime in Kabul, though noting the Taliban did see the group as a threat.
“There is intense fighting right now throughout Panjshir,” the NRF’s head of foreign relations, Ali Nazary, told The New York Sun in a telephone interview Friday evening.
Mr. Nazary said the group had “liberated three districts,” including Hisa Awal, Abshar, and Abdullah Khel, all of which are located in Panjshir province in Northeastern Afghanistan.
Mr. Nazary’s reports could not be confirmed by the Sun. If true they would mark an important moment at the start of what is called the fighting season in Afghanistan and suggest that a startling and more spirited fight than previously reported is under way in the country.

Nothing coming out of Afghanistan is going to help Brandon so it will not be widely reported.
They need to watch out for reporters with video cameras...just sayin’
Equipment is so much smaller today but chemistry has advanced as well.
Back to the local warlords.
Families, clans, tribes.
"The only thing we hate more than the Taliban is the bleeping National Resistance Front of Afghanistan...SPLITTERS!"
Can we have our equipment back?
Always good news when it is moslems killing moslems...
Perhaps they should reconsider the opinion of dogs and their scent detection skills.
I thought they were the Peoples Popular Front of Afghanistan.
He’s sitting over there.
It wasnt Biden, or more accurately, it wasnt just Biden.
Almost all that equipment listed was given to “friendly” Afghan forces in the course of many years and several Presidential administrations.
The extreme incompetence in the withrawal (for which you can justly blame the Biden administration) led to some extra US equipment being lost, that needn’t have been.
To also quibble - there werent really any “latest airplanes” lost. Almost all the stuff there was counterinsurgency gear.
There wasnt the sort of aircraft, tanks and artillery to conduct modern wars against China or Russia.
Go Abdullah Abdullah!
Insullah.

An informative review article is linked to that map of ‘the Stan’s. Notable so by what it leaves off! Divides Asia into FIVE parts, then mentions a SIXTH part could be considered then.never discusses it. That part was merely the geographically largest part: Russia east of the traditional Ural dividing line. Which included Siberia. And one notable location within those five remains as unmapped and undiscussed as… Shangri-La. Tibet! Stolen from one part, by another which wants us to forget the theft. And which dreams of quietly adding more from the uncounted North.
There are a lot of ‘Stans’ on that map.
Who is this “Stan” clan these countries are named after?....

Well this is the first time I have heard of ANY resistance movement in Afghanistan, since the Taliban took over Kabul last August. Can we blame our mainstream media for not reporting on this over the past nine months?
