Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall shared his first update on Thursday since being injured in a blast outside Kyiv while reporting on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying despite the fact that he's lost both feet, a leg, an eye and most of his hearing, he feels 'pretty damn lucky to be here.'

So, this is an update that answers at least some of all that.
A couple of thoughts of my own:
If the blast that caused Hall's injuries and killed his partners was in fact a "bomb", odds are about 99:1 the munition was Russian. Not that such is in itself a comment on the Russian effort: If one is bopping around as a reporter in a war zone, getting hit unintentionally by either side is obviously a high risk. Without more information as to location and circumstance, no moral judgment on what individual fired can really be made, and, in fact, Hall himself says nothing on the subject.
The bravery and dedication of the doctors is quite amazing.
I also find it amazing one can suffer that much damage to one's body and survive.
Hall's spirit is also quite remarkable.
I'm sure Dr. Jadick would deny it, but, he's a hero many times over, and everyone else involved in this rescue are not far behind. God Bless them!
Prayers for Ben Hall's continued recovery, and for his co-workers (RIP) and their families too.
I think his initial feeling of glad to be here may wane after several decades like this.
He is more severely maimed than the sparse rumors I had seen. I hope he recovers as completely and quickly as possible.
Perhaps.
But that depends a lot on what he does with those decades.
A Philippine connection - Halls father was a child inmate of the Santo Tomas internment camp, 1942-45, with his family, and like the rest came that close to starving to death, before being rescued by the US Cavalry.
War is Hell.
Was it worth it? That’s my question.
A question only he can answer.
He addressed this prior to the injury in a back and forth with Greg Gutfeld. Basically saying Gutfeld couldn't do what he does and he couldn't do what Gutfeld does. Tells me he was committed to dangerous war reporting.
It turns out Hall is a McMicking on his grandmothers side. The McMickings are a very prominent Philippine clan, descended from a 19th century Scottish immigrant. So he is (a bit) Filipino by blood.
Handicapped lives are worth living. I just met a wheelchair bound man who is very active and productive. It is not a death sentence.
I hope he can connect with Johnny Joey Jones, who also survived devastating injury in Afghanistan, and has gone on to rebuild his life and has become enormously successful in the media world. He is a true inspiration.
Exactly. Further, it’s the only minority group any of us can join on a moment’s notice.
Thanks for the report.
