When the judge’s spouse is a wingnut | Editorial
The New Jersey Star-Ledger ^ | March 20, 2022 | By Star-Ledger Editorial Board

Posted on 03/20/2022 7:11:10 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, sits on a board of the Council for National Policy, an ultra-conservative organization that encourages political leaders to contest the 2020 election results. As such, she signed an open letter in December calling for the removal of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from the Republican party for joining the House Jan. 6 Committee.

That is no surprise, as Thomas consistently shares the political viewpoint of the loony aunt who lives in the basement. She believes that America is under threat from the “deep state” and the “fascist left” and from “transsexual fascists.” It’s also no surprise that she attended the Jan. 6 rally herself, as she admitted last week.

But it’s challenging for the Thomases to avoid conflicts in their separate jobs, so they have simply stopped trying.

Federal judges are guided by a code of conduct. Among them: A judge cannot sit in judgment of something that involves a family member; and the judge must recuse even if there is the appearance of impropriety.

Unfortunately, the rules are different in the highest court, where justices decide for themselves whether they have a conflict, and Thomas has rarely made such a decision in his three decades on the bench.

So the Thomases make the rules as they go along. Besides her CNP perch, Ginni Thomas founded a group with Trump acolyte Steve Bannon, which wages a “30-front war” on issues already before the court, such as voting rights, immigration and abortion.

Approval of the court has fallen to a record-low 40%, 72% of Americans support a stronger code of ethics, and nearly 80% favor term limits.

That’s a historic rebuke for the most unimpeachable branch of government, which no longer even makes the effort to rise above the political vitriol.

Why is it a “conflict” if they share the same world view? This happens all the time on the Left and the MSM could not care less.

No, Justice Thomas will resign WHEN HE FEELS LIKE IT.

But feel free to try to impeach him...it would be fun to watch.

When retarded Joysey Boys on the editorial board are friggin’ bottom feeding racists that could never get over a conservative African American married to a white woman.

She’s a judge’s spouse with her own opinions, which she is entitled to have.

Yeah, the only time family connections should be allowed to influence a SCOTUS justice, it should be via blackmail and threats from liberals.

And this is because of the Black Guy Who Doesn't Know His Place?

Please. It's because of the Wise Latina and her Comrades in Anti-Constitutional Cultism.

"Approval of the court has fallen to a record-low 40%, 72% of Americans support a stronger code of ethics, and nearly 80% favor term limits."

I have news for this papers editorial staff....the disapproval of the Supreme Court is not because of the personal views of the wife of a conservative judge....it is because of decades of far-left decisions by the Democrat-stacked liberal wing.

This is no surprise, as the media consistently shares the political viewpoint of a loony liberal aunt who wanders around in her Birkenstocks high on ‘shrooms.

The StarLedger/NJ.com is so leftwing. Look at how leftwing Biden and Harris are instead of a SC Justice’s spouse.

Thomas has been on the court for 30 years. Maybe the more recent nominations and liberal slanders have more to do with that than a guy who basically keeps his mouth shut and writes constitutionally correct opinions.

People can still be sued for defamation I assume. Not a smart idea to mess with a judge.

As soon as I see the words “ultra-conservative organization” I stop reading the article. Has the lamestream media ever referred to any organization as an “ultra-liberal organization”?

According to the lamestream media, the entire political spectrum ranges from progressives to moderates to conservatives to rightwing conservatives to far rightwing conservatives to fascists to Nazis to MAGA supporters to ultra-cobservatives.

Gee, I wonder what the approval rating of the journalism profession is these days? Way under 40%.

Maybe they should look at the log in their own eye instead of the splinter in someone else’s.

But they won’t.
