Getting a little ahead of themselves, aren’t they? They don’t have the Ukraine yet.

Will Putin go Full Retard? Rattling his nuclear weapons and threatening invasion of NATO countries? He’s acting like a cornered animal. Never go Full Retard.

I doubt he wants them...Russia is hated more in the Baltics thank even Ukraine. More likely he’ll let them ‘enjoy’ the ‘social sophistication’ that the EU will require of them, and then patiently wait until they’ve had enough.

Had Ukraine gone as easily as they expected, Lithuania would be next. They would be certain that no one outside of Lithuania will be willing to go to war for Lithuania.

Russia can barely handle fighting on a single front...imagine trying to wage war on two.

Well to be blunt, if his performance so far in Ukraine is any indication, Putin would be lucky to take Lichtenstein....

Planning to get a bit overextended there Vlad? Might want to read up on Napoleon or Germany in WWII.

Putin’s personal astrologer must have told him that if he seized former soviet territory within this particular planetary configuration window his prostate cancer would go into remission.

But after the shellacking the Russians have taken in Ukraine, I don’t think they have any appetite for more. And Lithuania is probably pretty sure they could beat them.

Right - it’s the doves who decided to invade Ukraine.

Some years ago the Rand Institute ( a liberal think tank) and the Brookings Institute (a conservative think tank) war gamed a theoretical conflict between the USSR and NATO during the cold war. Both came to the same conclusion.

One side or the other would be faced with defeat on the battlefield while it was conventional weapons and non nuclear. When defeat was sure the losing side would go tactical nuclear weapons. The other side would also go tactical nuclear weapons and which time one would think it is a stalemate and just go home.

Both think tanks said it would go to intercontinental thermonuclear warfare, particularly if the Soviet block was losing due to internal politics of the old USSR.

Gazillionaires are used to getting their way on anything/everything, I really believes it twists their brains. Gates, Bezos, Elon, Putin .... to name a few twisted, crazy souls.

This is a combo of Putin faking a credible nuclear threat by pretending to be nuts, and the lefty media (in collusion with nutty Tucker Carlson-wingers) faking a fear of nuclear weapons use to avoid providing the kind of weaponry to Ukraine that would actually tilt the balance.

Truman threatened nukes over Korea. Eisenhower threatened nukes over Quemoy and Matsu. Threatening and doing are different things. Putin uses nukes, and the Russian population is a literal grease stain on China’s newest western province. Putin goes from maybe Vladimir the Greater to “what is Vladimir?” and “what is Russia?”.

They are a NATO state. After watching the mess in the Ukraine, it would be a hornets nest. Everyone would make up for lost time in Ukraine.
