Ukrainian forces in Kyiv have destroyed a column of Russian vehicles in the city's northwest after surviving a 'brutal' night of shelling.
Volunteers, among them the former Miss Ukraine Anastasiia Lenna, have taken up arms to fight off Vladimir Putin's army, with 'long queues' of citizens waiting to be issued weapons at recruitment centres in Kyiv.
-snip-
Lenna, who won the Miss Ukraine competition in 2015, posted an image of herself on Instagram as she announced she had joined the country's resistance against Russian troops.
Lenna, who usually works as a public relations manager in Turkey, posted the image alongside two hashtags - stand with Ukraine and hands off Ukraine.
It is not the first time she has been pictured with a gun and previous posts appear to show her training with weapons in wooded arenas and indoor training grounds.
She joins hundreds of volunteers, among them a man with a prosthetic leg and a young couple who brought forward their wedding from May to tie the knot before joining the civil defence force the next day.

Yeah that is an Airsoft rifle..nice try propaganda masters.
It is a Specna Arms Daniel Defense MK18 SA-C19 CORE Airsoft Rifle in Bronze. Major cringe.
Hard to say it is not a normal AR pattern.
There are no forward assist nor dust cover cuts in the bolt.
With so many making them who knows.
But with out those to figures I am saying air soft.
full title is Daniel Defense® MK18 SA-C19 X-ASR CORE™ Carbine Replica Replica Replica Replica Replica Replica Replica Replica Replica Its supposed to look like the real thing - prove the gun she holds is not.
See post #40. She's working on it for ya...
See that little screen in front of her optic? Do you know what that is and do you see it on a real MK18? No you don’t because it’s to stop the BB’s from hurting the scope lens. BBs will wreck a nice $600 optic.
Also, the stock has the tubular shape on both sides to hold long batteries. Anyone who knows ARs will see all kinds of FUBAR on what she is holding.
The airsoft assassin of Kiev.

“is it me or is that a US Army-issue M4a1 she’s holding..” [max americana, post 8]
“...I would much rather have an AR-10. much better range for sniping and a lot more stopping power. Besides, I just love 308 - God bless 30 caliber rifles... [circlecity, post 54]
US issue M4s aren’t so modified, and they come equipped the classic M16/AR-15 front sight triangle. So many AR-15 variants are out there now, that anything is possible. We’re not even starting to count customized rifles.
I’d prefer an AR-10-type platform too.
7.62mm rifles (Russian 7.62x54R or 7.62 NATO) can reach out and touch targets farther away, but require more training to use properly. And the recoil is worse, for neophytes.
For green half-trained troops, 5.56 NATO (or 5.45x39mm Kalashnikov) is a better bet: twice the ammunition load for a given weight, less recoil, and all the effective range the typical neophyte can take advantage of.
“Stopping power” cannot be quantified and is not used as a selection criterion by the US military establishment.
