Question for Bidet: How are you not oppressing your citizens more than Putin oppresses his?

Just been chatting with a close friend who is Ukranian.

It seems like what has happened is this.

There are two “breakaway” regions in Ukraine - Donetsk and Luhansk.

There have been warring factions in these two regions since at least 2014. Right now the lines of demarcation are roughly right down the middle as far as boots on the ground go.

Putin today said he was going to recognize the lines of demarcation **as they currently exist**.

This turns out to be a move towards **de-escalation**. Had he said he would recognize the regions according to their original borders that would have favored **escalation**. But he did not do that.

Now the sanctions that appear to be announced here are not the “doomsday” sanctions - they are more like “slap on the wrist” sanctions.

So it looks to me (and my friend) that a deal was cut and that the world has stepped back from the precipice.

Biden to order economic sanctions after Russia recognises Ukrainian breakaway regions

If all goes according to Biden's plans for sanctions, he'll 'request' that McDonald's close one restaurant in Moscow, and for Coca Cola to sell just Coke Classic in Russia. That will hurt them real bad.

So he got what he wants and he STILL imposes sanctions.

This was an internal succession movement. What business is it of the US to get involved?

As I understand it, most of the people in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions would rather be a part of Russia than be a part of Ukraine. If that’s true, let them.

Guess Bidet didn’t get his 10%. But don’t worry. They’ll likely get all the financing they need from Uncle Xi.

The White House said President Biden would soon issue an executive order that would ban new investment, trade and financing by US people and entities in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

Does that include any business dealings of Hunter Biden?

And these sanctions serve what purpose against a band of separatists that control most all of both the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. These regions have already succeeded from Kieve governance and have been allied with the Kremlin for years! Putin is formally recognizing these regions as autonomous and telling the world he plans on accepting them into the Russian federation.

Luhansk and Donetsk regions do this by their own voluntary act Putin is making sure they break away without interference.

Are these separatists violating Ukraine sovereignty and constitution by their intended succession? Probably, but so what? Not our problem, it’s Kiev’s problem.

So... just how is the separatists regions of south-eastern Ukraine any of the worlds business, let alone that American’s couldn’t care less that pro-Russian regions of Ukraine want independence so they can freely join the Russian federation.

Bumbling Biden is a fool. It’s his flailing efforts to shore up his tanked polling numbers.

Stay clear of the shift in Ukraine borders and internal strife. It’s none of our damned business.

So nothing to punish Russia, only sanctions that force those regions into economic dependence on Russia.

Sounds like the fix was in.
