I’m shocked, SHOCKED!, that this could have just been a money-grab the entire time. But terms have yet to be released, if they will be released at all.

From here on out I stay away from Remington products.

You do not settle for something that was not your fault, thereby impugning, indirectly, the rest of the industry.

Total garbage.

Can I sue Honda for a DUI crash into me?
How about McD’s for obesity?
Benchmade for a stabbing?

The first two paragraphs of the article are pure crap. I’m surprised it came from the NY Post. It wasn’t an automatic weapon like they stated, nor was it military grade.

Remington Arms doesn’t exist. In 2020 it went bankrupt for the second time in two years and the court ordered it broken up. All of the constituent companies that Remington formerly operated, Bushmaster (who built the AR in question), Marlin, DPMS, Barnes ammunition, Remington Arms & Remington ammunition, et Al, all have been sold and now are under ownership of other companies who will be better stewards of the Second Amendment and the firearms industry in general than the now-defunct Remington was.

So everywhere this article mentions “Remington” in conjunction to the lawsuit or any attempts at an out of court settlement, substitute “the former Remington’s insurer.”

What exactly did Remington do that was wrong? Manufacture and sell a legal product in accordance with Federal law? It was the kid’s parents that brought the firearm into the home and let their obviously deranged child have access to it.

Remington must have a woke CEO. I wouldn’t have given these ghoulish money grubbers the steam off a San Francisco sidewalk stool.

I don’t think the shooter himself was found to be mentally ill. But even if he was, proving intent must be difficult. How would they know he was? Did Remington actually do anything illegal?

So. In the end all it boiled down to was a buttload of money for 9 families who weren’t satisfied with $3.7M each to hold out for over double that.
Wanna guess how many of those now stinking-rich families will donate sizeable $$ to combat mental health for troubled school children?

Did the gun(s) not operate as designed? Yes? Then there is nothing to sue over. Case dismissed.

Should Wusthoff be sued since an Afghan refugee killed 3 Germans with one of their chef's knives a few years back?
