At first, it seemed like Jeff Zucker was just another piece of collateral damage from Andrew Cuomo’s demise, caught in the same blast radius that knocked Chris Cuomo out of CNN months earlier. It all seemed so rich, considering Zucker was the one who canned Chris for getting wrapped up in Andrew’s own workplace scandal.
But for many CNN staffers, something isn’t adding up about Zucker’s surprise resignation on Wednesday. The network’s president said in a statement that he failed to disclose a romantic relationship with his number two, Allison Gollust, before it was raised during an investigation into Chris Cuomo. (Gollust used to work as Andrew Cuomo’s communications chief before she moved to CNN and was replaced by the notorious Melissa DeRosa.)
For starters, Zucker and Gollust’s relationship was one of the biggest open secrets in media. CNN staffers awkwardly navigated the pairing, since every time they dealt with her, they were keenly aware that she was involved with the boss. They were rolling their eyes at Gollust’s own statement that said “recently, our relationship changed during Covid.” It had been going on for much longer: Page Six would wink at it from time to time, and the two have known each other since they worked together at NBC decades ago. As Katie Couric wrote in her dishy memoir: “I had to wonder why Jeff was angling so hard to bring Allison on board” at Couric’s talk show, Katie. “She and her husband and kids had moved into the apartment right above Jeff and Caryn’s — everyone who heard about the arrangement thought it was super strange.”

Fired for poor performance, but he wants a future job in media; so....
Uh, the ratings are IN THE TOILET. They are like a fifth of what Fox’s are.
Thery had to get rid of him, but they didn’t want to say it was because the ratings suck so bad. That they are in complete denial about.
Limited Hangout
it’s the distraction play
If she worked for Cuomo, then she's pretty bad.
56 years old. Plenty of money. I had to wait till 62 to get myself ‘fired’. He will enjoy life. He went out with a bang(ed).
To whom was he supposed to report? The Board of Directors? He was the CEO! Something is not right with this.
He's lucky he found someone with poor taste. It won't last long.
Fox is beating CNNN and MSNBC BOTH with Democrats watching. That is really bad. The story came out earlier today with the ratings. I suspect that is what is behind this.
NFL, CNN, ABC scandals today and Facebook implodes after hours. SPX Market gains today wiped out
It’s a great day ( yeah I was short the ES futures)
Resign or........
Chris Cuomo took him down with him. If CNN didn't fire him or he didn't resign, Chris Cuomo would cause trouble.
So that's what Fredo is doing in his LI basement these days.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it was losing 90% of the CNN audience.
That, and Trump calling for a boycott of ATT. They love Zuck, but they love preserving their market share even more.
It says Gollust worked for Zucker for 20 years, and at NBC before that. How could she have worked for Cuomo?
She knew which apple to polish.
there has long been a rumor that the other bald dude at CNN got his gig by blackmailing. He went up the ladder pretty quick. Probably has some goods on Zucker.
Apparently she did, very poor taste in men.
Bingo! We have a winner!! This was the least harmful way for him to exit a sinking ship (CNN) while obscuring the fact that his management there had destroyed viewership. He’ll take some time off then reappear at MSNBC etc.
