Russia has chance for 'diplomatic way out' of Ukraine crisis: US ambassador to UN
ABC News via Yahoo ^ | January 30th, 2022 | BILL HUTCHINSON

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield warned on Sunday that Russia's menacing military buildup on the Ukraine border signals the Kremlin's "intentions to use them."

Thomas-Greenfield's comment on Sunday in an interview with ABC's "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos came on the eve of an open U.N. Security Council meeting she requested to discuss Russia's aggression toward Ukraine and what to do about it.

"You don't amass 100,000 troops if you don't have intentions to use them," Thomas-Greenfield said.

She said Monday's U.N. Security Council meeting "is one more opportunity to find a diplomatic way out for the Russians." She added that Ukraine officials have asked for the meeting, which is expected to be televised, in a letter to the Security Council.

"We've made clear that we're prepared to address our concerns, Ukrainian concerns and Russian concerns at the diplomatic table, but it cannot be done on the battlefield," Thomas-Greenfield said.

It’s almost like the Russians don’t have a hand on the spigot to Germany’s natural gas heating supply in the middle of winter...

I don’t think Russia has to do anything to win.

Putin seems to be the only one with a clear purpose and a clear goal, NATO is showing the weakness of any group of allies. Without a strong leader with clear goals NATO is next to worthless and should have been disbanded when the old Soviet Union collapsed.

Biden is either weak or has been compromised by Russian and /or China (either with bribes or blackmail).

The US defended Europe for 70 years while they slide slowly into soft socialism. If they are concerned let them defend themselves, without US blood or treasury.

If they do it, they will lose credibility as the supplier for next decades and they hardly have anything else for sale than oil & gas.

Apparently the US and Britain have been removed from their input on this.

Boris is going anyway and Sloppy Joe is getting what is left of his brain programmed for now.

She said Monday's U.N. Security Council meeting "is one more opportunity to find a diplomatic way out for the Russians."

What a joke, "a diplomatic way out for the Russians."

It is clearly diplomatic way out for the demented Biden regime. - Tom

“If they are concerned let them defend themselves, without US blood or treasury.”

The US should notify NATO that we are completely out (abrogation) in 5 years, with withdraws beginning in 3.

Because Russia neither needs or wants a way out.

They are winning this. Big time.

NATO is split, on its way to obscurity. Russia’s commercial position in Europe assured.

And the entire world knows Ukraine will never be part of NATO. And that NATO will never put anything besides token forces there.

It wasn’t even close.

The Russians haven’t moved a troop.

Not sure why they need an “out?”

“They are winning this. Big time.”

Winning actually what ?

“And the entire world knows Ukraine will never be part of NATO. And that NATO will never put anything besides token forces there.”

That’s obvious. Who said anything else ?

Putin has already won. His goal was to remove the ability of NATO, and it is gone. Without firing a shot. Now if he could get the US to quit paying for it, most of his goals would be met. I will work out an agreement with Biden to accomplish just that. And Biden will be hailed a diplomatic ‘genius’, just as Neville Chamberlain was.
