The Army is offering enlistment bonuses of up to $50,000 for recruits with high skills signing up for six-year hitches, The Associated Press reported Wednesday.
That’s because COVID has hampered recruitment in recent years, Republican Rep. Michael Waltz of Florida told Fox News.
“The recruiters haven’t had access to the schools because the schools have been shut down for the last couple of years, particularly in the major inner cities," Waltz, the first Green Bay elected to Congress, said Friday on "Fox & Friends."
“They also tend to host big job fairs, these job fair-like events, they also haven’t been able to do that."
Another problem, he said, is that 70 percent of potential recruits are not qualified as a result of their criminal history or drug abuse or because they are not in shape to meet physical requirements.

Maybe that lawyer in the earlier article that could not pay his student loan should read this!
Yep. Are they still pushing the CRT bullcrap on vets? I would imagine so as long as the Biden occupation retains their hold of the White house.
Your life is worth more than 50k. Don’t enlist and risk throwing your life away on some pointless foreign adventure.
$50K is way more than I made in total for 4 years gross pay.
I agree, I no longer trust that the military is being used for the best interest of the country and it’s citizens.
“In good conscience I couldn’t recommend anyone joining up today. Even with the $50,000 carrot dangling. The BS is just too deep.”
Agreed. There is no way I’d enlist and potentially die for the corrupt idiots running things now.
They can stick that $50K up their ass.
“White rage” characterization doesn’t go over well when trying to recruit from your largest group of your recruiting base. Who wants to be part of a woke military? Milley and Austin have done irreparable harm to our national security. The next three years will be brutal in terms of recruitment and retention.
It’s more like the career bureaucrats that keep the ball rolling.
Yeah, but as we should remember, kids are dumb for the most part. I certainly was. Slightly better now. :-}
I’m guessing that lawyer is a leftist who doesn’t mind being an Antifa/BLM rioter but would be less enthusiastic about being a storm trooper for the deep state where people shoot back.
That’s right. To hell with the Globalist (Soros, Schwab, Gates, Obama, et. al.)bastards who use our military to protect and further their agenda.
My SIN is in the 82nd. He says moral is shit. He lacks all confidence in leadership. There are a lot of problems behind the scenes beyond woke indoctrination and woke leadership that you would never know about by watching the news. You certainly wouldn’t hear about it from a recruiter. A $50k bribe won’t fix those problems and it will not attract the right recruits. The military can only be fixed from the top down. That begins with the Commander-in-chief and the joint chiefs. All their asses need to be fired. Clean up needs to continue down to the BC level. Half the BC’s in the 82nd are just political animals. There should be zero room for that in our military.
I got a $2000 reenlistment bonus in 1980 and felt like I was rich!
The military can only be fixed from the top down.
But this is also a time to infiltrate the military with good young men with a long term perspective.
History does teach us than situations change.
Hopefully if there is a career involved, it may be possible to quietly navigate the obstacle course long enough to retire. Stay under the radar.
Oh, and thanks for the service.
This is what happens when you piss off 95% of those who actually sign up and serve in the armed forces.
More likely being a Woke military.
No one wants to worry if they drop the soap in the shower.
