Chinese officials are banning spectators from cheering during the upcoming games in a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The elaborate precautions are even tighter than the ones enforced during the summer’s Tokyo Games, as Beijing has maintained a “Zero COVID” policy since early in the pandemic.
Everyone — including the athletes — is asked to clap instead of shouting, cheering, or singing. Athletes must be vaccinated — or face a 21-day quarantine — take tests daily and wear masks when not competing or training.

The olympics has already become TV spectacle and internal IOC corruption to an extreme degree, all fueled by money and politics.
Perhaps this could be the one that kills all public interest.
And many will still pay to travel there and be abused. No, wait, most will be coming from DemocRAT run cities....so they are very used to being abused. Poor things. Let them cower, cringe, and beat themselves with strings of woven marijuana. It does give us things (not people) to feel superior to when we’re down.
Freezing venues, outside, no foreign spectators, clapping only, masks firmly in place, a sea of red and white flags and jackets. What a disaster.
Looks like no one will be traveling there this year!
I guess the athletes will be forbidden from breathing out, after breathing in. It’s the breathing out that spreads the disease.

Note - booing is still perfectly fine.
Ban both - breathing out to stop the spread, and ban breathing in to stop the infections.
